It's about stripping trans people of their mobility. It's about stripping trans people of the ability to navigate systems where ID is required. It's about criminalising trans life in a way that funnels people into a penal system where they run the risk of sexual enslavement.

So, they’re just excluding trans people from engaging in society regardless of if they follow the law.

And Andrea is a gender neutral name, e.g., the very famous male Italian singer Andrea Bocelli. This is all stupid and yet cruel and dangerous.

Are people going to start getting angry enough to do something? Its very clearly not about voter fraud. Like, that was clear to many before they even implemented it. Between this and the identity farming and online surveillance, you aren't disturbed enough. Not even remotely.

She’d Never Changed Her Gender Marker. Kansas Invalidated Her License Anyway. — Assigned A trans Kansas resident recently changed her name but not her gender marker on her license, fearing what Kansas may do if she did. The Kansas DMV still flagged her ID.

This story, from @natezuke.bsky.social, is absolutely wild. A trans woman who never changed her gender marker was issued a letter invalidating her license. At the DMV they cut up her license, which had an "M" marker.

It's not about the gender marker. It's about targeting trans people and making their lives unlivable.

i know there is so much going on but this has been one of the worst weeks for trans people in a long while and it really feels like not that many people care at all.

The actual reality for trans people is so impossibly grim rn. I admit I have trouble functioning, let alone giving a fuck about whatever the present spat is on social media.

Not to mention the slew of hospitals and health networks which have suddenly dropped all their trans patients, even adults, again in just the last week.

According to PEW, teens in households making under $75K are more likely to use chatbots for help with all or most schoolwork. I read a comment on another platform that said this is amazing news because we are "finally going to close the achievement gap." That is not how I would interpret this data.

If you know Mark Warner, you know this is a pretty serious statement. He is EXTREMELY level-headed and doesn’t make hyperbolic statements. He is from a state with a bunch of military contractors too. If he is mad about this, then imagine how mad everyone else is.

I’m planning a lot more coverage of the fallout from the OBBB Medicaid cuts this year. Pretty much every state is making hard choices that are going to hurt people who don’t deserve it.

Also as I note, similar conversations are happening in blue states right now. Because OBBB made *massive* cuts to Medicaid over the next decade, and every state is figuring out how to make that work, budget-wise.

A cut this drastic may not happen — It’s still under debate. But even a 4 or 5% cut can still be cataclysmic for system already underfunded and on the brink, according to experts.
