too much to unpack there, so i'll just leave it at no one has ever convinced me of anything by saying i should hate people who are different, as a person who's often been hated for being different 😂

i have similar beef with organized non-religion. when some some ex-friends found out i was atheist, they tried to drag me to these "seminars" that were just white men telling mostly other white men they were so smart because anyone who believed in god was naturally dumb or w/e, which... Yeah.

as an addendum, i have no beef with the concept of faith and spirituality and i know that belief in something that's constantly exploited by institutions for control and financial gain can be both difficult and deeply personal. it's really just the exploitation part i have an issue with

even though the church my parents took me to was fairly accepting, they weren't great at dealing with kids who weren't "normal" and who didn't just do what they were told, so i had a lot of questions no one was prepared for or willing to answer LOL but i wasn't allowed to quit going for years yet

real talk, though, you can't be a kid with an incredibly strong need for autonomy and find comfort in the concept of a god that exists to punish you for not complying with rules, but it's ok bc he loves you. didn't have the words to describe that at the time, but i knew what it looked like to me

this has weirdly come up twice in discussion somewhat recently, but i have a very vivid memory of being told in church that god could see everything i did and immediately thinking, "no way he's allowed to see me pee, he can't do that" LOL

dude was NOT having a good time outside, and i thought he might have been my neighbor's dog getting locked out but he wasn't theirs (they do look very similar though). hope they can figure out who he belongs to 😭

i wasn't able to get near him because he was too scared and kept freaking out at me whenever i got close, but fortunately thanks to that post i was able to find out the dog got picked up and is at a local rescue now!

bless missing pet websites that will make a facebook post for you, because someone's dog got lost in my yard and i had no idea how to alert anyone outside of animal control/calling shelters without a facebook account 😭 all the animal rescue groups post on there and nowhere else lol

yeah, me too. to my dentist's credit he has done everything he has the expertise to do that would make sense in my situation at least, it's just difficult lol

i almost feel bad for my dentist because he's had to do the "aggressive orthodontic work made your teeth angry forever" explanation multiple times but with different pictures every time because it's always a different problem and nothing has ever helped enough long term lmao

finally got a referral to a periodontist (not looking forward to it but someone else has to look at my stupid teeth lol). i haven't been able to chew on one side of my mouth for 2 weeks now, so i'm sure whatever they tell me i need this time is going to be expensive and unfun
