We are in Mafia shakedown land here. Here is a prediction. All of this money will go into what will become known as the "President's Fund" which will allow Trump to dispense favours as he tries to buy elections and punish opponents. It is a slush fund.

FFS.
He didn't "kick off".
It's not a "jibe".
He said, with dignity and restraint, what we were all thinking - that Al-Obeid didn't just "die" - he, like tens of thousand of other innocent civilians, was killed by Israel as part of its ongoing programme of ethnic cleansing.

The fact that the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation endorsed the decision to proscribe PA without thinking about these inevitable consequences really is staggering.
This is not what counter-terrorism legislation is for.
I really think he should be considering his position tonight.

The police action today against Palestine peaceful protectors is absurd and dangerous. The banning of Palestine Action was a foolish and reactionary act by Cooper and Starmer faced with Netanyahu's blatant terrorism.

Why Englandβs new towns should look to medieval France
The UK governmentβs taskforce is preparing to publish its next-generation proposals. Could the markets, maisons and master planning of Europeβs still thriving 13th-century towns provide the answers?
I like this. One difference, which isnβt mentioned in the piece, is that the French village will have a (surprisingly powerful) mayor and council. Whereas we think it is a good idea to have feeble local government and a mayor representing all of central southern England.

Chart shows real-terms change in overall funding between 2025-26 and 2028-29 for councils. Title states: "Some councils will see big rises in their funding by 2028-29, while others will face large real-terms cuts even if they put up council tax bills."
π #IFSSatStat: Proposed reforms to English councils' funding allocation system will create big winners and losers.
One-in-four authorities will see real-terms increases in funding of 12% or more over the next three years, with another one-in-four seeing real-terms funding cuts.

China sees positive price trends in July amid demand pickup
1/4
In July we saw better inflation numbers in China. CPI was flat year on year but up 0.4% month on month. This is the first month-on-month price increase since January.
