I have so much admiration for the people who wrote ST kor fanfiction when their source material is
1)trash official subtitles and 2)all deeper trek lore are in english when most don't speak/understand english that fluently 🥹
creating gems from dust is2g actual alchemy...

a lot in my writing, but Spock and Uhura talks in polite form exclusively to each other often bc I find that idea/interpretation rly cute...
Also korean subtitles are/were trash in characterization so even writing them in korean is a whole new level of fan interpretation on it's own...

Spock usually stays the same so just feels extra bitchier when he's politely telling Kirk off 😂💦
Sometimes it's really interesting to see what kind of voice Kor authors use for him; I stay in the polite middle ground while some people use full polite endings for him!

i think abt KSU's speech pattern a lot in korean and it's quite fun to play with (as much as it is extra in effort)
all the ways they address each other formal, informal, titles, attitude
but in enlgish all of that effort I've put into dialogue becomes so flat 🫠 (sad)

sometimes it drives me mad that english just has one-ish form of speech
it's def more of a learning curve to outsiders but i do in a lot of ways like that asian languages have polite form and friendly form and everything inbetween
it makes the sarcasm better too imho
