Over time, we see little change in investment behaviour linked to rising inequality, with one notable exception: spending on lessons and courses, where both income and education play a role.

These patterns may reflect the value highly educated parents place on cultural capital, status, and competition for top academic pathways.

In contrast, higher-income families do increase spending with rising income, but they do not uniquely prioritize education relative to other expenditures.

Highly educated parents spend more than income alone would predict. This suggests that education itself, not just financial means, shapes how families prioritize educational investments.
