Peatlands, which cover just 3% of Earth's surface, store 550 billion tonnes of carbon or twice as much as all forests combined.
However, some 15% of them have been drained for agriculture.
Protecting these carbon sinks is vital #ForPeopleForPlanet.
New solar and batteries added to Texasβ electric grid since last summer have reduced the risk for summer blackouts. Last year, the chance of grid emergencies was 16 percent. This summer, itβs less than 1 percent.

How can wildlife survive without a home? The law that protects endangered species makes it clear that destroying the homes of endangered animals and plants counts is illegal. A new reinterpretation would make it easier for developers to destroy the places where endangered species live.
