The American people deserved to get a clear explanation of why servicemembers lives are at risk and why their gas prices are about to skyrocket. Instead, they got this.

Blurred background image of a traffic jam with text reading: Are current air quality targets enough to protect health and the environment?
Tens of thousands of lives are being shortened in the UK by air pollution, according to the Environment Agency. What can the Government do to protect public health and the environment?

The @saferairproject.bsky.social argues that airborne diseases remain a major health & economic burden - calling for national IAQ performance standards, realโtime monitoring, & ventilation upgrades across public spaces to reduce infections & protect those vulnerable.

The PLP is predisposed to like FPTP whenevet Labour is in office - the only time it also has the power to initiate electoral reform. Anyone who thinks an FPTP strong government is desirable should consider what this would mean with Reform (or similar) in power.

'I'm losing my home over Birmingham bin strike'
Striking bin worker Maxine Stanley says she will still "stand strong" despite financial pressures.
Birmingham city council should hang their heads in shame. @unitetheunion.bsky.social's message to @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social is clear, it needs to return to negotiations and offer a fair deal to its workers.

No negotiations since July 2025 - @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social should stop disgracing itself and get back to talks to find a fair resolution for the bin workers. That is the only way strikes will end.

A happier time in Iran...
Jewish children in Tehran dress up for Purim in 1964, long before the Islamic Revolution. Tonight, Jews around the world will commemorate Purim, celebrating the story of Queen Esther who saved the Jewish people from annihilation in ancient Persia.

Fun fact: The Americans were absolutely livid when the British decided to withdraw from the Persoan Gulf In 1968. Why?
Because they were afraid of a power vacuum.

Literally all that mattered in the 1960s to both UK and US: keep the place from blowing up (and the Russians from extending their influence there).
Well.

Finally, it is possible to be extremely concerned about the current US trajectory without romanticizing a violent and dangerous

PS: And finally the idea that "all Muslimsโ will now unite in their support for Iran, is not only racist, it is ludicrous and shows a complete lack of any historical understanding of the Middle East.

I spent 6 years of my life writing a PhD about UK policy in Persian Gulf in the 1960s, including the role of the Anglo-American alliance.
Key to the Persian Gulf policy of both countries: AVOID a power vacuum under any circumstances &keep Iran&Saudi Arabia from attacking the smaller Gulf States.

There will have been around 30,000 UK-born and around 6,000 foreign-born *eligible* voters. It is entirely implausible that this is why Reform lost (by 5000). It is plausible it increased the Green majority - probably by about 3000 voters

Ask Reform for number of Commonwealth voters and voters born abroad (by citizenship) if they are "absolutely certain" of what the numbers show is a xenophobic fantasy they could disenfranchise & deport their way to victory from 29%

A few years ago I did a Twitter thread for International Women's History Month about women psychologists through history.
You can read the thread here. It was one of the most fun things I've done on social media, and the most educational #womenshistorymonth
