Imo the scenario exploration is essential to graphic adventures, both japanese and occidental. Even the japanese menu driven adventures that I've played have this cursor exploration parts.

This is a Japanese adventure game (Paranormasight).
This is a visual novel (Steins;Gate).
Visual novels and Japanese adventure games. The two genres often look very similar, how are you supposed to tell them apart? Simple: if you can use a cursor to examine stuff, it's an ADV. If not, it's a VN.
I'm half joking but it's honestly a pretty reliable way to identify which genre is which.

¿Sabéis lo que me gusta de este developer? Empezó la saga Brownie's Adventure usando "arte" IA pero quedaba horrible y ahora hace todos sus assets.
Y vosotros diréis que los gráficos siguen siendo feotes pero ahora tienen personalidad y consistencia, antes ni eso. Y así es como se aprende 👏👏
