Thought this looks great, wonder who’s speaking then remember I’ve agreed to speak. Somehow we have to prevent AI accelerating the enshitfication of education while being sold as its salvation.

Anonymous reviewers were fantastically helpful. It doesn’t have to be a horrendous experience.

My critical analysis of all the speeches at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship’s 2025 conference has been accepted for Discourse and Society. It looks at the accelerating convergence between elite conservatism, neoliberalism, & the discourse of the far-right, i.e. β€˜regressive neoliberalism’.

Goodwin is using these figures to boost the far-right Great Replacement Theory. But by typically using the slippery β€˜some might say’ qualifier. He had the theory’s author on his show a few months ago. This is how extremism becomes mainstream.

When writing about how the Heterodox Academy does history, I'm finding Edinburgh Uni's racism audit quite useful already...

Edinburgh University had β€˜outsized’ role in creating racist scientific theories, inquiry finds Exclusive: Investigation finds one of Britain’s oldest and most prestigious universities benefited from transatlantic slavery and was haven for white supremacist theories

It would be fitting for the University to make funding available to investigate contemporary scientific racism, as it hasn’t gone away. www.theguardian.com/education/20...

Excellent article. Money, as always, buys political agency. The UK’s main bigotry engine, the loss-making GB News is subsidised by Marshall’s wealth. The channel has helped alter in what’s acceptable. See BNP’s careful calibration below compared to what the channel’s presenters and guests say today.

Never complained about the Boris wave, when Boris’s realignment was his shtick.

True, was once a big fan of Badenoch. Would probably switch to Lowe if Farage was ever a busted flush.

Two in five arrested for last summer’s UK riots had been reported for domestic abuse Police data indicates overlaps between public violent disorder and domestic violence and abuse

But according to GB
News presenters they are just ordinary family men, dedicated to protecting women and children, who were persecuted for using hurty words. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

These groupings tacitly admit that the protests aren’t organic gatherings of concerned mums and dads, otherwise they wouldn’t see the need to feed them with far-right conspiracies like this: bsky.app/profile/huwc...

Yes, neoliberalism demands standardisation, learning and assessment deconstructed and instrumentalised - perfect for algorithms to process.

Discourse and Society as I’ve focused on their argumentation techniques and constructs. There’s another article to be written on global network of financial interests that ARC represents but lack of transparency huge methodological problem.

25.07.2025 22:25 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Worth a try, I lost confidence in the paper but the central argument is sound I think - neoliberalism applied to education means it’s AI ready. Pre-conditioned for algorithms to understand assessment of learning etc.

I used your book for a paper on AI in education, but I’ve had to park it because I couldn’t resolve the contradictions in what the reviewers wanted me to do with it.

🎯 as well as such psychological explanations, as a sociologist, I’m interested the political economy of radicalisation. Why is there so much money to be made out of grifting?

Doing minor corrections on an article on the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship, accounting for excellent reviews. I examined 32 keynote speeches at its β€˜25 conference to establish exactly what it stands for. Looking forward to it being out in the wild soon.

Farage, Goodwin, Young & others are fanning the flames by circulating a MAGA-style conspiracy theory that undermines & creates hostility towards the police. Appallingly irresponsible. They are desperate for further violence to validate their β€˜tinder box’ grift.
