I do wonder if Neo Metal being planned to be used in the war but being unable to be finished in time is actually just a meta joke about Forces being rushed and that being a boss concept that was left on the cutting room floor.

Sonic Forces is such a funny game to say had "no ambition" because there's several points in that game where a song plays for literally 3 seconds because they clearly had more level planned but had to cut so much for time

According to Ian Flynn, who asked what Infinite's real name was when writing the script for the Sonic Forces digital comic, "Infinite" is in fact the jackal’s real name. Conversely, Infinite's profile on Sonic Channel states that his real name is unknown.

Sega decided to change this part of Infinite's character in 2025 btw...

Basically my current going theory is that Clutch is an asshole who sold his daughter to Starline to experiment on, probably related to Surge's non-brainwashed desire to be an actual hero clashing with his whole evil mobster thing, and there will be a time where she finds this out and breaks down.

Surge and Clutch meeting for the first time, talking about how they both knew Starline. Clutch "I did indeed. I deal in all manner of scrap and robotic refuse. Dr. Starline was a frequent client of mine for... ALL SORTS of resources." Surge (shocked): "Waitaminute... you mean?" Clutch: "I know who you are, Ms. Surge. I know WHAT you are. I know a GREAT MANY things. Such as you don't mind getting your hands dirty, and that you have no love for Sonic the Hedgehog or his friends. Perhaps we can do business, mm?"

Literally the only way I could see us even getting a glimpse at this is if my theory of Clutch being related to Surge is correct.

People have treated that game as being too tryhard edgy for like 20+ years now but it's WAY less of a change tonally than the Jak and Daxter series went through at that same time, and knows that it's concept is goofy.

Like, look at Shadow the Hedgehog (2005) where they've got guns like 3 times the size of Shadow and people just assume that Sonic Team wasn't even SLIGHTLY in on the joke even though there's a bunch of clear joke weapons in that game because Shadow's not looking at the camera constantly and winking

Something I think about a lot is that, as reactions to translated interviews have shown, it seems like people just assume that a lot of game devs, especially Japanese ones, don't have a sense of humour and they don't understand if they're making something a little goofy
