Google preview of Times and Telegraph articles reporting that proposals by Scottish Greens to increase Council tax on second and empty homes will likely be passed by Parliament.
No. of second homes in Scotland: 21,606
No. of long term empty homes: 46,000
No. of homeless children: 10,360
This is a problem we can solve, if Parliament agrees to my proposals this week.
The BBC should now do the same.
Israel must not be allowed to use Eurovision to whitewash genocide.
Oh the transphobe allowing party is a boy's club that won't accept women to have a say? Colour me shocked.
It's almost as if all these issues are linked and you can't ignore one just because you think it's worth sacrificing some people's rights to accomplish a larger 'socialist' goal.
Oh, and PSA for #LabourDay: sex work is work and sex workers are workers. Sex work is a form of labour, and sex workers deserve the same working and safety rights as everyone else โ๏ธ

I've been saying for ages UK govt needs to wake up to the fact the US has inflicted multiple recessions on Europe and the rest of the world for the past 100+ years.
They have also inflicted multiple investment bubbles on us and left us with the losses.

In reply to a Q from @kate-c.bsky.social at Edinburgh council on Thursday, the council leader said "Cllr Day has made an apology through the media" [for incidents catalogued in the Dunion report].
I can't find this apology. Can anyone else?

The problem with โstrategic silenceโ or whatever you want to call it from pro-trans people is that anti-trans people are definitely not being silent. So now we have our first proper position on trans rights from Your Party and itโs this. Well done!

I want to explain a few things and then it might be clearer why UK trans people are upset.
In 2001 I married my wife, Sylvia.
In 2005 I started medical transition. (1/13)

the Brexit discourse wouldnโt lead here. There was a British form of exceptionalism in the idea that Brexit itself wasnโt an extreme position given what it meant practically and in terms of signalling. /END

Cishet white men make up the majority of sexual predators, and are the biggest threat, and the failure to focus on that is the problem.
Holyrood banning trans people from toileting while this was going on shows what a farce transphobia is.

Peaceful protest is fundamental to our democracy.
Standing up against genocide and famine is fundamental to our humanity.
I've written to the Scottish Government seeking clarification on how they expect Police Scotland to secure our rights to protest & condemn genocide.
Jobcentre sent me a message about a delivery job. 1. I have no license. 2. I have limited capacity for work and work related tasks. 3. Despite this, I already have a full time job.
It has no impact on me, but it's still mildly annoying. Leave me alone, I am doing the best a disabled person can do.
Screenshot of a reddit post: ChatGPT asked if I wanted a diagram of what's going on inside my pregnant belly. A screenshot of ChatGPT's response. It is a side view of a foetus gestating in the uterus. The foetus is head-up with no umbilical cord or placenta. Behind the uterus is the rectum, which is unlabelled. Trailing down from between the rectum and spine, extending beneath the buttocks to the inner thigh is a yellow line labelled "pudendal nerve. At the front is an oval-shaped part labelled "cervix". And then we really struggle to image describe this bit. The uterus and the bladder are both attached to a single part which is long inside, then extends downwards into a penis with a single exist. This penis is labelled "rectum".
Today in AI Is Not A Good Source For Learning About The World's Most Misunderstood Body Part, meet this ChatGPT gem.
Funnily enough, we're actually going to talk about how most of this is kinda sorta right (for small values of right), as a cautionary tale about generative AI.
So that's how generative AI works... and how it can tell you you'll give birth out of your penis-rectum.

In the face of a growing far right threat, the bulk of the UK media are disgracing themselves.
transphobia is sexism
if you have a penis you must have these characteristics
if you have a vagina you must have these characteristics
the more transphobic a person is the more sexist they are
the more sexist a society is the more transphobic it is
this should be obvious but apparently it isn't๐

They didn't say anything about queer people. They didn't touch on it when the facilitator mentioned it. But that was too much for this woman. How dare he say that. It's not the same at all.
It is though. A slow, silent genocide is still a genocide.
I went to the Ken Loach talk at the EIFF. The facilitator mentioned trans people once. That was too much for this woman. She said he shouldn't have mentioned it. They talked about Palestine, they talked about benefit sanctions, they talked about the CIA in Central America.
