‘Since WWII’: Ley’s wild net zero claim Sussan Ley has made a wild claim about the living standards of younger Australians as the debate about net zero reaches a head in Canberra.

The Coalition signed Australia to the Paris Agreement in 2016 & set Australia’s net zero by 2050 target in 2021. Asked if she was worried about the planet for her 6 grandchildren, Sussan Ley blamed Labor for "the world they’re set to inherit". #auspol au.news.yahoo.com/details-secr...

Liberal Party formally abandons net zero by 2050 climate target The decision brings the party closer to the Nationals, which ditched its support for the target earlier this month amid internal turmoil over the Coalition's policy.

The Coalition has spent 30 years on climate change only to wend in a giant, disfigured polygon and arrive back where they started under John Howard. #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-11...

Can we tackle global warming without net zero? Here's what it really means The Liberal shadow ministry has agreed to dump net zero by 2050 from the party’s platform. Here's what that term actually means.

The Coalition has done its utmost to demonised net zero but the term just means reaching the point where the world doesn't emit more climate changing emissions than are absorbed. At that point the temperature would cease to rise. #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-11...

World still on track for catastrophic 2.6C temperature rise, report finds Fossil fuel emissions have hit a record high while many nations have done too little to avert deadly global heating

The COP30 hears the world temperature is on course to rise by 2.6C above preindustrial times by 2100. Since the Paris agreement the projected rise has fallen from 3.6C but 2.6C would still be catastrophic. Fossil fuel emissions will increase by about 1% this year. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Post-privatisation, are Victoria’s prisons actually better? Three privately managed prisons house nearly 40 per cent of Victoria’s prisoner population, but research indicates they're falling short of expectations in key areas.

That said, should be noted that those 3 house nearly 40% of all the state's prisoners. Making it the largest population of privately detained prisoners in the country.

Victoria’s proposed ‘adult time’ plan to impose life sentences on children condemned by advocates In a move akin to Queensland’s youth crime laws, Jacinta Allan’s proposal could see children as young as 14 face 20-year jail terms in ‘alarming race to the bottom’, human rights expert says

Victoria will be akin to Queensland when it changes youth justice laws to "adult time for violent crime". Advocates say the prison system isn't built to treat the issues kids have.

These are punitive measures but what are the preventative ones? #springst www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Victoria, be careful following David Crisafulli & Queensland down the singular, slogan based punitive approach to youth justice. Consult widely, look at all solutions. Don't let other crimes such as DV & sexual assault be pushed aside in the election frenzy. #springst

Australia's Laura Tingle has a look at the BBC's woes. They go a bit deeper than the stupid editing of Donald Trump's speech which has triggered legal action. There are several news items which the Beeb executive has not dealt with appropriately over time. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-11...
