The work they are doing to normalize and universalize gAI use in schools and universities, to discredit any criticism, all to ensure they have a captive and uncritical customer base utterly dependent on them for generations

One of my favorites from my collection! Unfortunately I have no date or info about who she was.

How a Small Welsh Town Tried to Save a Popular Sea Shanty Band from 'the Captain' When a scraggly band of folk musicians arrived to tour the UK, residents of a small Welsh town were enamoredβ€”until they learned that the band's leader ruled with an iron fist.

For Women's Day, I don't want to slight anyone by omission, so let's take a look back at easily one of the most amazing women in history: Hildegard von Bingen.

It is #InternationalWomensDay, which is a particularly good day to support this book! Yes the stories are in the U.S., but the concept resonates beyond; *how* do we talk about women, alive and dead? Who controls the narrative?

I’ve been reading a lot about accessibility for all sorts of reasons. Something that keeps coming up is β€˜designing for cognitive load’.

What is the cognitive load of war, war, environmental catastrophe, political catastrophe, observation of near constant suffering, trying to teach/learn math?

I wonder how many people realize this is the norm.

March 7, 1965: Bloody Sunday To protest the police murder of Jimmie Lee Jackson and for voting rights, more than 600 people began a peaceful march from Selma to Montgomery.

#tdih 1965 Bloody Sunday in Selma, Alabama.

While corporate media focused on the march, the violence against African Americans had a long history.

So did the organizing by Black sharecroppers, teachers, students, & more.

The point is, LLMs aren't designed to be used critically. They are built to do exactly what this author/AI user says we shouldn't do.

The only way to make AI less harmful is to change its design, not to change the way users engage with it.
