I'm reading the Kobo edition with the 1st 3 Livi Talbot books. Adventure! Daring! Sibling interaction!
24.11.2025 18:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think it's okay to buy second-hand books, supporting local small business. And libraries do pay for books (sometimes even for each borrowing). That's how many readers learn of books & authors they like.
24.11.2025 18:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Buying books from thrift stores & second-hand bookstores is supporting small local business. Visit libraries too! Get library cards, borrow books & ebooks & audiobooks π
24.11.2025 17:11 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Libraries are awesome!
Yesterday we had a free Holiday Decorations Swap sharing 16 boxes of ornaments, lights & ribbon, & 6 xmas trees. Cleaned up the tinsel before a Lifelong learning class. Picked up 2 books from inter-library loan.
I do what I can, writing in English for educational publishers & a small press, giving review ebooks, supporting digital humanities internationally, & voting to support international aid.
24.11.2025 16:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Or Canada, or the UK, or Europe, or NZ, or Australia. Good libraries support books! And Public Lending Right in many countries sends an honorarium to authors of books in library collections.
24.11.2025 15:43 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0To anyone who thinks people who pirated copies didn't have $ anyways so those aren't lost sales -- those are lost LIBRARY sales.
Request books! Libraries are great.
I have my books available on sixteen online vendors, and bookbub, and you can ask for them at local bookstores and libraries. Plus sometimes people ask for an ebook and yeah, like most writers I give review copies.
24.11.2025 04:50 β π 15 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Oooh! I looked up moon phases in 1798 and the NOAA website helped me figure it out. Awesome!
24.11.2025 04:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's a rotten thing for anyone to do to an author. It's bad enough when my books for educational publishers got pirated to train AI. I'm on disability and can manage not to pirate books.
Libraries and Project Gutenberg are free.
A Kobo Plus subscription is 99cents a month.
Also remember to take a dog break. Dogs are awesome.
23.11.2025 17:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Getting a new bike home can be a challenge!
I picked up mine, rode a few km to a friend's place, later rode 50 km home on the Galloping Goose trail nearly all the way. Lovely introduction to my recumbent trike! Bike trails are better than dodging trucks.
Reawakening Memory by Celu Amberstone books2read.com/reawakeningmemory Tommo's dream-world was a grim rocky desert plain, pockmarked with large craters, wisps of blue smoke curling around some of their edges. No sun or moon illuminated the dark sky, but now and then a fiery red light lit up the horizon followed by a thundering boom. I shuddered in spite of myself.
Here's a quote from Celu Amberstone's novel Reawakening Memory, fifth in her Tales of Tasimu series.

That must be an amazing book! Gotta read your review. Is Nalo Hopkinson in it? Or Bernadette?
22.11.2025 19:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Remember to look for not only authors for #EBookGifts but their publishers! A press like @tychebooks.bsky.social has many voices. Their website is like wandering in a neighbourhood bookstore.
22.11.2025 19:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Your books' bilingual Canadian elements remind me there isn't one solitary future with everyone identical & speaking one language.
22.11.2025 19:16 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A quote by Greta Thunberg stating that, "The one thing we need more than hope is actoin. Once we start to act, hope is everywhere." It's in white font on a blue sky background with puffy white clouds.
Nearly every panel I spoke on this year ended with the same question: "What gives you hope?"
My friends, that question expired years ago. (If you need receipts, my book Saving Us is literally a 300-page answer.)
The real question is: How are you PRACTICING hope?
Because Greta is right ..

These kits were soooo cool. One kid in my class had one. And a chemistry set the size of checked luggage. He made so many explosions in his room, the ceiling was spackled with...um.
