Nigel Farage backer loses $550,000 on bet over Iran war George Cottrell, who was previously convicted of wire fraud, put money on President Trump not bombing Iran by February 28 β€” the day of the US-Israeli strikes

George Cottrell is a convicted fraudster and should be nowhere near British politics.

Reform need to explain why they’re happy to have him as one of Farage’s key lieutenants.

What is a humanist?

A humanist is a non-religious person - usually atheist or agnostic - who reasons that, this life being the only one we have. We should: treat others with empathy and compassion. Make decisions using reason and science. Act fairly, for other living beings, our planet, and future generations. For humanists, morality comes from empathy and our evolutionary heritage, not from any good. Are you a humanist too? Take our quick quiz: humanists/quiz

β€˜Before they threaten to pull funding they should speak to restaurants and shops’ Dame Tracey Emin has weighed into a heated funding row after a leading Reform councillor suggested pulling cash from the Turner Contemporary.

This should be a bigger story.

Following an exchange between the MP and the Reform-run council, Cllr David Wimble, cabinet member for economic development and special projects, posted on X: β€œWell perhaps we could pull funding for her lovely turner contemporary?... Polly Billington MP] suck it up.”

And seriously, the individual and public health benefits of this are huge if it stimulates this across the nation

I try not to be too judgemental, but there really is a problem with people who, entirely cynically, attack positive things like this.

Someone has done an AI video of the dancing event in Parliament today and whilst I'm sure they didn't mean it flatteringly, I am so there for it.

I'll add that there *was* a problem with the event - the sound level interfered with other business in the building. I'm sure this will be noted for future to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Zarah Sultana MP Facebook post that says:

The optics of MPs doing Strictly Come Dancing in Parliament while the world teeters on the brink of World War Three is completely inappropriate.

It says all you need to know about Westminster.

What absolute nonsense. A fun event using the power of celebrity to promote physical activity is somehow bad? I now have three brilliant professional contacts to bring back to my constituency and a way to inspire people to improve their physical and mental health.

This IPSO adjudication against the Telegraph is quite something

Confirms their story titled: β€˜We earn Β£345k, but soaring private school fees mean we can’t go on five holidays’ was completely fabricated, with the family involved non-existent and stock pictures used

Following the price surge, the British right are pedalling a fantasy of self-sufficiency through North Sea oil. This has no serious basis in reality. Britain has been a net energy importer for 20 years. It has nothing to do with net zero and everything to do with decades of declining production🧡

I listened to 170 hours of Joe Rogan’s podcast – trust me, he hasn’t turned against Trump | Michael Marshall The world’s most popular podcaster seemingly disapproving of ICE does not mean he has soured from the administration

"I listened to 170 hours of Joe Rogan’s podcast – trust me, he hasn’t turned against Trump"

We're in The Guardian today, explaining why people can't just believe out of context clips about Rogan breaking from Trump, Joe is still very much on the Trump train.

So chuffed that my friend and hardest working skeptic alive, @mrmmarsh.bsky.social, got this opinion piece published in @theguardian.com.

If anyone knows Joe Rogan, it's him. Journalists skim clips from JRE; but Marsh does the deep dive.

If you're trying to be bombastic and discombobulate your opponents, you really need to have something substantial with which to do so.

Stride really didn't have anything of substance to say and seemed to just be saying things that he wanted to be true, rather than attacking what is actually true (which is hard in this situation tbf as it's all pretty good)

Great result for a constituent who sought my office's help in securing an accessibility ramp to get in and out of their home following their hip operation.

I am pleased the ramp has now been fitted, and we were able to help and support this family.

Writing in the 12th century, the Persian polymath Omar KhayyΓ‘m's writings were considered heretical in his time β€” but today Edward Fitzerland's 1859 translation is one of the most widely read poems in the English language. A testament to Iran's remarkable traditions of free inquiry and rationalism

At today's statement on the US and Israel's strikes against Iran, the Prime Minister confirmed that the rule of law and having a viable plan were his guiding principles for any involvement of the UK in military action.
