'A library should have something for everyone': Library sets events for Banned Books Week In honor of "Band Books Week," the Worcester Public Library will celebrate “the freedom to read” all afternoon on Oct. 11.

“We believe a library should have something for everyone,” WPL Executive Director Jason Homer said. “Just because you don't want that book doesn't mean other people don't, and we have over 860,000 titles.”

SNAP helps families get back on their feet and keeps dollars flowing to grocery stores, corner markets, and farmers' markets. Cutting it hurts everyone. #SNAPmatters

Did you know: when you compare shopping carts side-by-side, people who use SNAP make similar choices to people who don't? And in states that participate in a HIP (Healthy Incentive Program), SNAP users add 1-2 more servings of fresh produce to daily meals? Solution is expansion not restriction.

We Can’t Make America Healthy Again Without SNAP or Medicaid 1 in 7 U.S. households face hunger. Cutting SNAP and Medicaid isn’t just cruel—it’s a direct attack on public health.

Today, the House is preparing to vote on the largest cuts to federal nutrition programs in U.S. history. The "Big Beautiful Bill" is in direct opposition to the idea that the Trump administration wants to make America healthy again.

The latest on Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" what just happened and what comes next
After 26 hours of voting, Senate Republicans voted to rip healthcare away from 17 million people, jack up food costs, raise utility bills, and add 4 trillion to the national debt.

Because YOU raised your voice, the vote was 50-50, and vice president JD Vance had to break the tie.

The bill now has to be passed by the House of Representatives - and Republicans are squeamish.

This isn't over yet. Call your representative and tell the to STOP this bill in the House NOW.

Call Congress: 202-224-3121.
