Work to help my Flora Guardian plant Creeping Marshwort in Norfolk. Needs all the help it can get, Endangered status.

Hope this work is successful. Hard work to keep it going in the introduction sites here in Oxon. Needs close scything/cutting regularly.

Wood Anemones were responding to the early March sunshine in many Dorset Hazel coppices today.

Slender Pond Snail (Omphiscola glabra), highly characteristic of seasonal pool complexes on remnants of common land in Vale of York/Humberhead Levels. Globally Near Threatened. Typically occurs with the more widespread White-lipped Ramshorn (Anisus leucostoma) & Moss Bladder-snail (Aplexa hypnorum).

I celebrate good restoration of pools everywhere..

The advance of brambles in almost every nature area I study or work is a big worry to me. Cut them yes, but only the tree popper pulling out the roots gets rid of them, and it is really slow work. Repeated cutting through the year might do it?

How temporary might that wetland be?

And here's the two-handed scrape-seeding dance being expertly performed by a volunteer at Rock Edge! The Wild Marjoram was the last seed to go out.....Followed by a light rake to settle the seed in.

The photo shows a number of small white flowers clustered on dark twigs. There are out of focus flowers and twigs in the background.

Bloody-nosed Beetle (Timarcha tenebricosa) - a large and flightless beetle that can often be seen in early spring, and feed on members of the bedstraw family. Their common name derives from a red liquid they produce when threatened.
