Every morning alarm and little "7 and a half hours until alarm" / "3 hours until alarm" message is a nightly measure of how far I have fallen from the grace of God.

A gauge of how many of my little hobbies I can squeeze into the next day.

Now I am ADRIFT.

I went to sleep without setting any alarms last night,,

A thing I Cannot remember doing before.

Now it is impossible to say when I should rise. I am trapped, inexorably.

Wrinkled fingers tremble on the trumpet's valves. Endless summers with his boys, cheap gin and cigars. A hundred women, though he never forgot a name. Dresses twirling in the moonlight, bright as stars.

Once, he'd known the sweetness of five mambos. Perhaps before the end, he might manage a sixth.

"Such a clever loophole," one spectator comments, peering through her opera glasses.
"Quite," her companion agrees. "Nothing but jumps. Why, it's hardly touched the track at all!"

They watch in silence as Frogger leaps forward. Then back. Then a bit to the side.

"Shame it's not exactly Faster..."

Now, this fry did have to tragically uhhhhhhhhh Retire rather early. *licks lips*

But it will live on in our hearts forever, inspiring generations of small fry to come.

This fry, which tumbled out of the top-heavy cup it was served in and neatly stuck the landing across my ketchup cup without hitting the potentially filthy mall table.

I feel like I've discovered a truth at the heart of the universe

How come whenever characters hide in a bathroom stall by standing on the toilet, it's always:

"Oh no~ my foot slipped in~"

and never:

"the automatic sensor has flushed six times since I climbed up here and my cover is fully blown."

One must imagine Allison happy, clearing snow off her windshield in advance of work in the morning, as the relentless snow continues to fall.
