It's out! My melancholy little ghost flash, "Are We There Yet?" is in this issue of @lunastation.bsky.social

After witnessing a fatal car crash, a ghost escorts a child’s spirit home as they both wait for overworked reapers to circle back to their places in line.

Thanks to anyone who reads! <3

A good man, Jeff. The best they've got. But dammit if he doesn't give his foreman a migraine from time to time.

The crows all know he is a Friend though.

The city crew was all ready to start cutting when the oldest of them climbed into the branches.

"Jeff," the foreman said, exhausted. "Not again"

"It's over the threshold," Jeff insisted. "And we do not permit it"

"You can't live up there forever"

But he can stay until the eggs in the nest hatch.

The soundtrack of those movies has played at a low, subaudible volume in the back of my head for Decades now

a group of people laying in beds with the caption i 've got it Alt: a group of grandparents laying in a bed, as they've done for years, as Charlie crows about having the fifth golden ticket to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.

Is this to be my life now

Every morning alarm and little "7 and a half hours until alarm" / "3 hours until alarm" message is a nightly measure of how far I have fallen from the grace of God.

A gauge of how many of my little hobbies I can squeeze into the next day.

Now I am ADRIFT.

I went to sleep without setting any alarms last night,,

A thing I Cannot remember doing before.

Now it is impossible to say when I should rise. I am trapped, inexorably.

Help,,

A thread of organizations who support trans Kansans, as a resource for those in KS and places to donate/support for those of us elsewhere. Please take a look and help out, if you're able.

Thinking a Lot about the trans poet at the slam I went to recently whose last / winning piece was on self-protection / preserving your peace versus "refilling your well with water that is Poison".

Thinking Lots about that one. *sigh*

Things in my immediate circle have felt Hard a long time. Finally, some breathing room has materialized. Morale good. Coping returning.

But that wider edge of the wheel, everything's still just spinning out.

As usual, hope you're all Good [affectionate to my loves / warning to the Rest]

Big cognitive dissonance today.

There's the *gestures bleakly*

But I went to a scheduled casual hang out with new friend, then wanted to do One More Thing surrounded by people. Read The Pale House Devil in one sitting at a coffee shop.

Hard to square personal life Relenting, world stuff...ahh.

Wrinkled fingers tremble on the trumpet's valves. Endless summers with his boys, cheap gin and cigars. A hundred women, though he never forgot a name. Dresses twirling in the moonlight, bright as stars.

Once, he'd known the sweetness of five mambos. Perhaps before the end, he might manage a sixth.

"Such a clever loophole," one spectator comments, peering through her opera glasses.
"Quite," her companion agrees. "Nothing but jumps. Why, it's hardly touched the track at all!"

They watch in silence as Frogger leaps forward. Then back. Then a bit to the side.

"Shame it's not exactly Faster..."

Now, this fry did have to tragically uhhhhhhhhh Retire rather early. *licks lips*

But it will live on in our hearts forever, inspiring generations of small fry to come.

A rather pale French fry balanced across a paper cup of ketchup, stop a brushed bronze table that could easily have all manner of germs.

A rather pale French fry balanced across a paper cup of ketchup, stop a brushed bronze table that could easily have all manner of germs.

For consideration among the Olympic greats, I would like to submit:

This fry, which tumbled out of the top-heavy cup it was served in and neatly stuck the landing across my ketchup cup without hitting the potentially filthy mall table.

Competing for France, of course.

I often see posts saying name an author who you've read 5 books by.

I'm interested in short stories. So how about, name an author you've read 3 short stories by?

Also, the stories have to be published in the last 10 years.

Also, don't say me. πŸ˜‚
