So when thousands of women (and children) were being duplicated--including in non-consensual AI porn--it was no big deal. But it took "only a 15-sec clip" of these two famous white men to draw outrage and fear. Gotcha. Cool cool.

Thinking of Surya Bonaly this week while watching the backflip return to Olympic ice. She was the first to land it on one blade in Olympic competition in Nagano in 1998. I will never forget how I jumped up and screamed seeing her do it live.

This dog is being called a "real-life Lassie" after helping find a missing 3-year-old boy in Kentucky. β€œI don’t know where the dog came from,” one officer said. β€œBut it was a blessing from God that day.” We think the dog deserves some credit too, so we're awarding him our highest honor, a 15/10

Just saw a list of books that give "swoon worthy Valentine's Vibes." How many times must we point out that Anna Karenina, about a woman who throws herself in front of a train because of a fuck boy - is NOT a romance. Article adds disclaimer about the methodology. *sigh*

Teaching about AAVE in my education courses this week, and as a reminder we should all be talking about it all the time in ELA. And stop using negative language to describe it.

My students have not heard about it from any other educator ever and that pisses me off.

Repeat after me:

No.

That's it. No explanation is needed, EVER. If you CHOOSE to give one, do so mindfully and deliberately.

I remember sitting in a Sociology class in 1998 and discussing vouchers. The professor asked everyone who would benefit the most from the program and after a dozen or so thoughtful answers shook her head and said, β€œfamilies who already have their kids in private schools.” The rich always find a way.
