That video is pretty solid too, worth a watch though itโs a little too kind to Google so watch with some skepticism. Veritasium has had a few fumbles with objectivity in the past.

11.10.2025 18:45 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This sounds more like it has terrible matchmaking and a poor internal MMR system than an inherent problem with the game.
These arguments mirror the casual player experience for many shooters almost exactly, and the issue is usually loose/inaccurate SBMM

Metonymy is everywhere, we use it constantly in language. Iโve found the word itself quite useful, itโs both precise and compact for the exact phenomenon described here :)
09.10.2025 20:36 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Greetings #compsplatoon community! I've started a Scorigami to track every score that has happened for the Top 8 games throughout #S3NAL. Scores in black are impossible, and scores in green/blue all occurred in Week 1's Top 8 games.

09.10.2025 20:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0โProโ can work as metonymy for โhighly skilled competitiveโ and there isnโt anything wrong with that.
Itโs like how โOlympic levelโ can be applied to things that arenโt in the actual Olympics.
Language is flexible like that.
I opened a video about "the company ruining restaurants" and I was engaged until I saw it was one of my former employers.
lmfao
Yeah Iโm just thinking theyโd rather I take two full weeks off than just take every Monday off until the end of the year.
Would probably end up feeling better tho lmao
For the past four weeks, every Monday Iโve been either too sick to work or Iโve had the day off due to corporate holiday. Next week is another corporate holiday, bringing it up to five.
Should I go for the full eight Mondays in a row? I have unlimited PTO, but Iโm sure my boss will side eye me lmao
Do you walk into graduate level math lectures demanding they break it down for you despite not having the prerequisites or do you realize youโre not the target audience?
And no, you immediately started making demands with no attempt to communicate, the post is still up.
Also, could you engage in a less entitled manner? Could you instead ask specific questions youโd like clarity on instead of demanding I cater to you specifically and try to cloak it in the language of social justice? I engage with almost every idea in that thread and go pretty deep to expand.
06.10.2025 14:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The only word in that thread that can be shifted into a wordier alternative is โostensiblyโ. โRehabilitativeโ, โpunitiveโ, and โretributiveโ are concepts that cannot be broken down further, theyโre part of the language necessary to engage with discussions of justice.
06.10.2025 14:45 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Itโs not โjustโ wanting Jared gone because heโs shown signs of being a better person. None of this thread shows that until pushed back on it, thatโs just the more defensible claim.
Thatโs core republican strategy.
Yeah that visceral feeling of discomfort is intentional, but the parallel is appropriate. The republican talking points are about maximizing punishment with no path towards reintegration. Theyโre appeals to emotion that hijack language that makes people clutch their pearls.
06.10.2025 14:28 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0What wouldโve been ideal punishment for them, in your eyes? How can we determine appropriate punishment moving forward? What would be a path to reintegration that you support?
06.10.2025 14:10 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is such a โmean girlโ comment. What did you think youโd gain from posting this?
Iโm expanding on a specific philosophical argument and using precise language to stay true to the source material. Itโs also high school level vocabulary at best, and none of the words are unnecessarily complex.
Itโs a sophisticated argument that says that intolerance of the intolerant is the measure of last resort, taken only when the enemies of an open society (who donโt abide by the rules of the tolerant) make rational debate impossible.
It is not at odds with a rehabilitative approach towards justice
Have you read the link you posted? The paradox of tolerance is a specific argument made by Popper that doesnโt apply here. Itโs not to kick out anyone you deem intolerant, itโs a thought experiment about what happens to a perfectly tolerant society that does not reserve the right to pick intolerance
06.10.2025 08:42 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I think the logistics are definitely way easier as a ladder format, and itโs easier to understand for players too!

05.10.2025 17:40 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This seems like a logistic nightmare and can't really be hosted on any platform whatsoever so it's unlikely to ever be a reality, but is definitely an interesting thought experiment.
05.10.2025 17:37 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The interesting bit here is that the scheduler would use match results to form the next set of matches to minimize number of rounds necessary to be relatively sure of the ordering of players.
05.10.2025 17:37 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0You know... part of me wonders if I can use the algorithm for comp.splat.top to make a solo queue tournament. You queue up, get assigned your next match (including teammates), once all matches are done it assigns your next match, etc. Then at the end, player with the highest score wins.
