I have always loved to sing but had big hang ups about it because of some things that happened when I was a kid/teen.

Just over a year ago I released a song that I co-wrote, including singing live at a public launch event. The whole process of this song coming to life was hugely healing for me 1/

I’m a chronic night owl so the morning and I are not friends, not because I don’t love her but because I gotta sleep sometime.

But today I was still awake at 5:30am from the night before so I took myself up to the local lookout to watch the sky soften and lighten and to have a little cry.

Currently querying a hopepunk #MG #SF novel-in-verse with a non-binary protagonist and their hip-hop loving pet rock.

And in the early writing stage of an adult romantasy with a cli-fi undercurrent.

I’m a writer, creative producer, marriage celebrant and high school teacher from regional South Australia.

I write poetry, short stories, novels, games, plays and screen based projects but willing to give anything with words a go!

Adelaide Festival announcement re: Adelaide Writer’s Week and the (cancelled) appearance of Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah is completely unacceptable. Not to mention baffling that the board would think this is appropriate following what happened at Bendigo, Sydney etc. Read the room.

For the last two nights in a row my 11yo hasn’t asked me to tuck them in. So tonight I went in after they’d put themselves to bed.

Me: why didn’t you ask me to tuck you in?

X: I can tuck myself in

Me: nooooo….you’re my baby

X: I’m a Year 7 now.
