Oben: Die Rue de Rivoli in Paris heute.
Liebe alles daran❤️

It’s time to bury the “Barton Dogleg” | Public Transport Association of Canberra
The case against the slower, costlier alignment for Light Rail Stage 2B.
It's slower. It costs more. It delivers fewer transport benefits for Canberrans.
Read PTCBR Deputy Chair Ryan Hemsley argue why it's time to bury the "Barton dogleg" route for light rail to Woden.

Before and after of a street showing a transpformation from lines of parked cars to a green bike path
Paris is transforming itself into a greener city.
Recently, Paris residents voted in favour of making 500 more streets pedestrian. Thanks to major investments in walking and cycling infrastructure, the city has become one of the friendliest for active mobility.

Light rail is here to stay, so get on board and make it work | Riotact
After three elections, one would expect the light rail haters would move on to something else, but like zombies that…
Ian Bushnell is tired of the anti-light rail set not facing facts. But the argument endures because the govt has been talking about City-Woden since 2016 with nothing to show for it, and won't make an decision on stage 2B until *after* the 2028 election!

Research: Protected bike lanes result in approximate doubling of number of users in a network link. Roughly twice as many women as men become new users of a link when protected infrastructure is installed.

From temporary to permanent. Before (2023) / After (2025) the "rue aux écoles" on Rue Vauvenargues in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. In 2023, we see plants in boxes placed to create chicanes to slow down car traffic. And at the end of 2024, car traffic has been completely banned.

It wasn’t conceived for transit transfer. They’ve been buying the buildings for nearly 40 years to create civic open space and it has since become the centrepiece of the Gehl pedestrianisation plan. City of Sydney btw directly invests more in housing than any other council by a country kilometre.

It’s a small site for a square, even when they buy the last holdout property. The square would appear even smaller with a southern tall wall.

George St has the MCA at one end. It has become a retail spine Swanson St always tried to be. Remember, The Galeries like the QVB and The Strand - all owned by a Melbourne megamall operator - and Westfield Syd are key reasons why retail spend in Sydney’s CBD never plummeted like Melbourne’s.

Valentine’s Day Flowers...
...and a big box of chocolates is what
you deserve on this special day.
Sadly, the last bouquets you received
were laid next to a ghost bike,
close to where you died,
by many who loved you &
others left by people who
had just learned your name.
A box truck driver said he never
saw you, ending your life that day.

But most surprisingly after a spate of projects even most of US top 10 airports will have rail by the time 2 metrorail lines connect directly to the new LAX terminal people-mover in a year. (Vegas’s airport doesn’t have one, but a high speed rail station is being built across the road from it).

And of course each of Europe’s top 10 airports and Asia’s top 10 airports have rail links – many served by multiple lines…/4

Nearly all cities globally that are like Melbourne now have one. EG: Canada’s top 3 airports will all have a rail connection after Montreal – often seen as a close Melb equivalent – opens an extension (in 2 yrs) of its new automated REM metro (using the same tech as Sydney’s M1)…/3

As it drags on this saga gets worse. There’ll be five Australian airports connected by the rail before Tullamarine. Adding to Sydney x 2, Brisbane & Perth will be stage 4 of the Gold Coast G:Link - it’s in advanced planning and assured of funding well before the ’32 Olympics…/2

Hope you had a chance to throw the metro into the mix too. Its speed and high frequency is what urban rail needs to be about to transform travel choices

(De)congestion pricing is not a tax! It is a price for renting the expensive real estate that your car takes in a dense city center. You can only call it a tax if you would call parking charges a tax.
