Gyrados is the perfect example of the "worst party members becoming the best in the late game" RPG trope. Some other examples I can think of are: Hope from FFXIII; Peco from BoF3; various "villagers" in the Fire Emblem series; Pierre from Chrono Cross; Quina from FFIX (and most blue mages in general

I considered a decade+ ago writing a book about low-level Umbrella employees, and examining the Raccoon City outbreak from their points of view. One character specifically was like that--fresh out of college and had aspirations to be a musician. He changed.

For real though, if you're not a massive fan, I can see these being confused. It's difficult for me to tell certain generations apart, especially the ones I didn't play much of. Have you played Red/Blue/Green, or their remakes?

I plan to replay Part 2 in a few weeks, and I'm curious to see how that holds up now. When it released in 2020, I loved it, and wasn't bothered by its controversial story direction. Now, nearly six years (my God), two seasons of the show, and this remake later, I may have a different opinion on it.

I would have much rather that time, money, and talent go towards a brand new story, because the sky's the limit with this franchise. Instead, we get the original game, nearly beat-for-beat. It's just not enough, I'm afraid, to recommend for anyone who has already experienced it before.

I would have less of a problem with it if video game development wasn't egregiously expensive and time consuming on a studio. Naughty Dog didn't "remaster" The Last of Us, but completely rebuilt the original game from the ground up. That's fuggin nuts.

Yet still, this is largely a new coat of paint on an already magnificent product. I've played the PS3 and PS4 versions multiple times already, and I can count on one hand the notable differences here.

The game looks gorgeous. The lighting is phenomenal. The new animations make the horror even more real. I even loved the slightly redesigned character models, with a more grizzled look for both Joel and Tess, and Ellie's more child-like features making her story so much more emotional.

While everyone else is talking about that -other- zombie game, I wrapped up playing this one.

This is the best way to play one of the best games ever made, but I still question if this remake was really necessary.

Paramount and CBS are dead to me, save for Colbert and South Park. Wouldn't be surprised if they got Kid Rock to write an anthem for the film.

I better shut up before I give them ideas.

Seriously. There's not enough information for me to gather anything from it. I can -assume- that the peak is the height of 360 era, but the chart doesn't convey this. What source does it come from? How is it calculated? I'm going to need someone to explain it to me like I'm 5.

I started to understand all the mechanics, like artifacts, anomalies, searching for stashes, and I really want to enjoy it, but I am constantly dying at every encounter. My bullets and knife seem to be largely useless, and I've spent more time looking things up on my phone than actually playing.

I've wanted to play STALKER for years, and finally decided to dive into it this weekend. After about 5 hours or so, I unfortunately think that it's just not for me, at least not at this time. It was an extremely clumsy and frustrating experience that I just do not have the patience for.

Royal all the way. It features new characters, an additional "Final chapter" that helps resolve some loose ends that were in the original as well as setting things up for the sequels (Tactica, etc), and numerous QoL improvements.

And yet GTA6 will come out this year with the biggest budget in gaming history, with an unheard of amount of man hours dedicated to ensuring every solid inch of its massive world is emaculately detailed, and it will smash just about every conceivable sales record 🫠

Wild Arms 3 is criminally underrated. It's a top 10 JRPG, and I'm tired of pretending that's it's not.
