Disney says Google AI infringes copyright “on a massive scale” Disney demands that Google immediately block its copyrighted content from appearing in AI outputs.

I sort of low-key hate so much about Disney these days (particularly the conglomerate it is part of), but I'm loving this!

Okay, but I didn't say it would happen. I just noted the actual requirements and let others make their own evaluations of things, seeing as I'm not prone to go around telling other people what they should think or to reply to comments as if someone is wrong for not foisting an opinion on others.

If they are proposing a constitutional amendment, as the article notes, then they are following the form and rules designed to alter the Constitution while respecting it. They're disrespecting a lot of people, precedent, and history, but a legally ratified amendment is not inherently disrespectful.

If they introduce an amendment to Congress, gain a 2/3rds majority in favor in both the House and Senate, and it is ratified by 3/4ths of the States, it is not unconstitutional. I am not saying I agree with such a proposed amendment, just that it isn't unconstitutional if they follow the process.

I'm seeing people talk about the "great original music" at the Hugos. Don't get me wrong: I found the music delightful, but I don't think everyone is referring to the original intro/wait-to-start music. I think some of you suffer from an obvious lack of Agatha All Along in your lives.

My personal highlights include Scalzi's dance party, Bridget Landry's Cassini talk, being recognized by the Heinlein Society treasurer as an awardee he had once cut a check to (who then wanted a photo together), making new friends, and spending some time with already-known friends!

Many things went well with Seattle Worldcon 2025; some things did not. Most accessibility issues at the Summit were the Summit's fault. The Sheraton was not an easily accessible choice for After-Dark events, however. I was gratified to see a ramp to the stage at the Hugos.

Thanks for the Friday dance party! It's always one of my favorite Worldcon After-Dark events, even when I have to dance with my walker!

At another ICFA, I was bar-conning with a lovely and quite loquacious person for over an hour before someone else came over and I thus learned my new drinking buddy was Ian McDonald.

One can meet some great and talented people just by being friendly and brave enough to talk to other con-goers!

My very first Worldcon I didn't meet anyone particularly famous.
My first ICFA, however, I found myself alone in an elevator with Peter Straub, who was one of the most genuinely kind people I've ever met.
He later, at an ICFA, played a part in me working for Steve Donaldson, who is now a friend.

Sure, one side has a slope that could make it hard to control a non-powered mobility device, but uhhh, there are two ends to any sidewalk, ffs.

The biggest issue is that one has to compete with vehicles for access to the ramp. When i6 asked the Sheraton staff about it, I got some b.s. about not putting a ramp at the end of the sidewalk because they're on a hill.
