RIP to the greatest base stealer of all time, #24 OAK, #RickeyHenderson.
Oh, the exception in classic rock? Starshipβs βWe Built This Cityβ, which does have Grace Slick as a co-lead singer.
I welcome hearing exceptions and counterexamples to this thread.
I had to go beyond the standard car radio presets to find a station for current pop music. The standard presets gave me the above choices (classic rock, country, RnB, Hip-Hop).
So if you donβt seek women out (or listen to a lot of RnB), you wonβt hear them. And that says something about society.
You want to hear women sing on the radio? Listen to current pop music: lots of great selections from Billie and Chappell and Olivia and others. And I hear this Taylor singer is pretty popular too.
But first you have to find a radio station that focuses on that music, and thatβs not always easy.
Ok, so thatβs classic rock, right? What about other genres?
So I listened to country radio, Latin (tropical, as the Grammys would call it) radio, and RnB. 5 songs each.
Country: 5/5 male singers.
Latin: 5/5 male singers.
RnB: Hereβs where it gets interesting: 3 women, 2 men. (One man was MJ.)
Included: John Waite, Genesis, REO Speedwagon, Tears for Fears.
Excluded: Patty Smith, Joan Jet, The Bangles, The Cranberries.
(The playlist was also exclusively white male singers too- no Jimi. Thatβs a separate issue- or is it?)
So over 25 different βclassic rockβ songs from The Beatles to Metallica (that will show you the time frame).
25 songs, all with male lead singers with one somewhat-exception Iβll point out soon.
Now, I get it, rock has always been a guy-heavy genre. But think about who was included and who wasnβt.
For this example; Iβm referring to gender, but you could also look at other factors as well.
This started by me needing to drive for an hour so I found a nice, industry standard conventional βClassic Rockβ station. I listened for over an hour (plus an additional hour of driving time.)
Driving around Florida, I decided to put on the radio to see whatβs on. And thereβs an interesting social dynamic in broadcast radio music which isnβt discussed a lot (outside of a few academic circles which I have no doubt people on here will bring up):
Who sings the songs you hear on the radio?
I have a small LLC and filed my paperwork for the CTA. Several accountants wanted to charge my company anywhere from $400-$600 to file the documents; I was able to do it for free.
This is an example of bad legislation (no interstate commerce language) and bad legal reasoning.
No, because of the way most schools are structured now. 7#11 or b9b13 are mostly meaningless to students learning orchestral performance; students in jazz studies should absolutely know the difference.

28.11.2024 21:19 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My friend (second page of suggestions) and I have 20 friends in common on BlueSky. None of the names on the first page of suggestions have friends in common with me.
Is BlueSky favoring random contacts over common connections? Or is it βthe more you post, the easier it is to be foundβ?
Perfect example of the above: I go to discover a friend whoβs on BlueSky. I type their name in as FirstnameLas(β¦) I get a lot of names like FirstnameLikeme on my list to add.
When Iβve finally inputted their full name, they show up on the second page of the list.
Bluesky seems like the kinda place where the developers write code like:
10 GOTO 20
20 PRINT βHELLO WORLD!β
30 idk what to do now
Canβt wait to see what it develops into the next few months!
