Sadly, a number of wonderful people close to me in Senegal passed away during my work. The dissertation is dedicated to them. And on the day of my defensio, my fourth reviewer, Thomas Hylland Eriksen, died. May the earth be light to them all.

Handed in & defended this multimodal beast, all summa cum laude. Good times! 🎉🍾

It’s accompanied by a long list of acknowledgments, first & foremost to my interlocutors & hosts. But also to many colleagues, creative partners etc. I’m glad for the support & companionship.
