So basically any variation of a PPL split tends to work. But that's just me and others will have different opinions :)
I do think ur right to focus on fat loss, eating to grow muscle just isn't effective over 20% bf, it just makes it extremely likely u'll put on more bodyfat.
But the new program seems fine for your current goals. It wouldn't be optimal for hypertrophy (eg. back and chest on same day and only once a week). When you do focus on hypertrophy, I'd program all muscle groups twice a week, with major groups on different days.

For training, I wouldn't change your current program because you want to be able to track that your strength isn't going backward. Changing the program changes what you're measuring.

It's likely your current split is not hitting right because you don't have the energy (from diet) to push as hard as before. Its not necessarily a bad thing.
