The only bright side on the tariff disasters is at this point I donβt think most people should take any significant action in response for a week at least, chance of quixotic change of policy/Congress revolt/judicial stay seems pretty high. But ofc the uncertainty/insanity is also a disaster.

A lot of people have said that Trump seems to have absolutely no idea how tariffs work, or basic trade economics. But I think itβs worth saying that it goes deeper - he doesnβt understand why we trade. Selling you things cheaper than you can make/grow/mine them is good? No, must be a wicked trick.

Maybe they found the .su domain (Soviet Union) still exists, and became afraid the woke left had access to a Time Machine? (I know far more about country code domains than anyone should)

Terror is the correct response to cassowaries that take an interest in people. They are like emus, but with colorful heads reminiscent of a psychotic clown, claws reminiscent of Freddy Krueger (up to 5β), and a tendency to disembowel what they dislike.

Musk broke it further, initially mostly with standard enshittification to increase engagement while cutting costs nonsense, only later giving up on that. But Musk would not have been able to if Twitter was properly functional beforehand.

Quick take on the Meta announcement (subject to revisions later).
1. Duh, of course this is political posturing nonsense.
2. That said, fact checking by the platforms themselves has always been more problematic and less helpful than many people imagine.

Seems to be an element. Definitely looks like appalling eSafety commissioner empire building is a factor also.

Of course. And to minorities, especially LGBTQ. Which it said clearly in sources they claimed supported their ban. So disingenuous you almost suspect some public servant is sabotaging it.

The under 16 social media ban is an astonishing bad example of policy making. They made up an entirely new theory about social media, specifically disagreed with even by the cherry picked sources they claimed supported it. Itβs unworkable, unconscionable, and confused.

Wouldn't put it past Dutton to now oppose the under 16 social media ban, and capitalise on the chaos.
Labor will have only themselves to blame.
With no evidence supporting the ban and a policy thatβs invasive and unworkable, Albo is handing Dutton an open goal.
