bathypelagic (cont): Living or feeding in open waters at depths between 1,000 and 4,000 m. In FishBase, this term is used to include the depth range from 200m to the bottom and thus the zones mesopelagic, bathypelagic and abyssopelagic.

demersal: Sinking to or lying on the bottom; living on or near the bottom & feeding on benthic organisms.
bathydemersal: Living & feeding on the bottom below 200m.
bathypelagic: Region of the oceanic zone between 1,000m to 4,000m; between the mesopelagic layer above & the abyssopelagic layer below..

Effort was made to revisit and modify earlier 'pelagic' records accordingly at that time to conform to this convention. This has not been repeated since.
