No additional feedback is needed, just this, and it could be automated: imagine notifications automatically firing as the queue sizes change.
I guarantee it would improve candidate experience and also reduce time your recruiter [or you] are being pinged for updates from N candidates.

"In interview queue":
There are N more candidates we'd like to interview before advancing anyone to the next round.
"In acceptance queue":
Due to timing or prioritization, there are N candidates in line to accept/reject the position before we can advance your candidacy.
Simple.

I've seen two employers use variations on this, and it made my candidate experience A++.
Here's what I'd propose: you are going to make a candidate wait.
Give them two statuses:
"In interview queue"
"In acceptance queue"

Interviewing:
The happy path is when you complete an interview and the interviewer progresses you to the next step within hours.
A common, if less comfortable place, is the dreaded wait.
I'm going to propose a radical solution: tell candidates just enough to help them mentally move forward.
