What’s truly astonishing to me is that there’s hardly any cultural difference between Armenia and Azerbaijan apart from religion and language. The music, food, even the mentality are the same, yet they keep furiously fighting over that tiny piece of land and constantly trying to cleanse each other

The Azeri government is nothing but corrupt and evil, but there have also been atrocities committed against the ethnic Azeri people by the Armenian population of the region in the 1990s. What I’m saying is that the situation in that region is far from black and white

Except Azerbaijan has never colonized any country. They’ve been in a territorial dispute with the Armenian population of Artsakh/Karabakh, but that piece of land has officially been part of Azerbaijan since the early 20th century, and was shared between the two nations before the war

Azerbaijan was a Russian colony itself, still kinda is tbh
