oh sure Ive read this post. i can appreciate the sentiment, but didnt appreciate how dismissive this post was.

for AI coding, and AI in general, is that it elevates less experienced folks a lot more than very experienced folks, so the most enthusiastic tend to be less qualified to educate

exactly! we are technologists. we notoriously get confused by why others dont see the world as we do. but how to use AI isnt at all clear to nontechnologists.

For example, every Friday I meet with historians to discuss how modern events relate to what's happened in the past. AI comes up from time to time and is perceived as a replacement for them, which breaks their brains because of how often it makes mistakes.

Is that their fault or the AI industry's?

Important to consider that change like this is rarely very fast. Almost all tech revolutions move slowly because people need time to understand them and figure out how to use them.

People arent just resisting. They also arent sure how to use it, which isnt really their fault.

Internalizing that was monumental for me. Especially when combined with learning to judge historical figures in the context of the world they lived in, not the world we live in.
