I’m honestly shocked that one of them didn’t bring up Frazzledrip, and especially vile sub-conspiracy of the larger Pizzagate conspiracy. Maybe that one was *too out there* even for Beetlejuice Handjob Boebert.

There’s no way to hear those stories and not tear up, even if you’re not a big fan of the military. Just recognizing selflessness in the face of death and destruction. True humanity on display. Trump simply can’t absorb that lesson, even when it is laid out in such a compelling way.

I watched him recite the acts of heroism done by the people he gave the Medal of Honor to, and it just made me sick and angry to think that he could hear such stories and it simply doesn’t resonate with him on a gut level what any of it means.

Well, I guess I wouldn’t know, I pretty much only listen to journalistic outlets that don’t pull any punches when it comes to Trump. I’ve given up on CNN completely years ago, and I stopped watching any networks that get infected by Bari Weiss/Ellisons/conciliators.

Well, yes of course. There was & is lots of racism nationwide. What I meant by my comment was Reconstruction was a focused effort to fix the systemic inequities existing in the South.

We also needed a nationwide reckoning with recognizing Black folk as equals & ensuring legal equality everywhere.

The erosion of congressional oversight and the rising profile of unitary executive theory has been a long time building to this.

I’m hoping this proves to be the wake up call that finally gets Congress out of their coma and gets our government back towards proper constitutional division of power.

It’s not an intellectual failing as much as a moral/ethical one. People with integrity practice self-discipline & consistent ethics so if they encounter verifiable evidence that is contrary to their preferred outcome, they acknowledge it & change, even if it goes against what they wish were true.

Unfortunately, even some relatively intelligent people allow “motivated reasoning“ to corrupt their logic systems.

In other words, people of all political stripes can be susceptible to deliberately choosing to believe what they want to believe, and ignoring evidence to the contrary.

During Geo. W. Bush‘s presidency, I very much hated his stupidity & his political goals, but there was this nagging feeling there I couldn’t get rid of, this weird feeling of familiarity & affection when I would look at him.

We’re going to have to work so hard to incentivize the rehiring of people with institutional knowledge.

I like this idea of “rising up and taking back our government” that Trump is talking about. Just that I want it directed at him.

Some folks seem to forget that in the run up to 2016, bad actors were producing fake news meant to bait people on both the left & the right.

They largely stopped bothering with left-baiting fake news when they realized that the uptake rate was much higher for the right wing, but we’re not immune!

My only concern there’s some folks leaning a little too heavily towards talk that veers into actual antisemitism.

Just because the Israel lobby & the right wing love to claim any criticism of Israel or Zionism is inherently antisemitic (it isn’t) doesn’t mean there isn’t actual Jew hate out there.

Israel is going to lose its “special status“ in our politics. It’s inevitable at this point.

All of the oldhead Boomer/Gen X establishment Dems are going to keep stanning for Israel for now, but the young folks are onto the Israel game, and are having none of it.
