CANDLE Wonder is a beautiful thing. When I took this photo in 2015 I was still falling in love with my new city. I did not know what the plant was, or that I would actually buy a home only a half-block away. Whether I choose to change or change is thrust upon me, I find myself wandering and wondering about what my life holds for me next. When change brings loss, I have learned to stay with my grief process long enough for it to mingle with my sense of awe. In that way I access my creativity and find healthy transformation in my own life and culture. It is my most keenly perceived connection with what I think of as God energy. This is one of those times, on both a personal level and on a cultural one. I am preparing to let go of trivial concerns so I can better grasp the grander yet subtle opportunities. Winds with insistent fingers pull skyward remnants of seashells housed ancient beings. Centuries pass as seconds. Egos are as meaningless as attempts to restrain wind, sand, or time. Greatness a cosmic chuckle. May the grain of sand that I leave charm the wind.
