it's awesome how much money grocery chains are willing to spend on Theft Deterring Infrastructure like chest high traffic gates and "AI"-augmented cameras and riot-geared rentacops, but they absolutely refuse to pay for more than one cashier to man their four dusty checkout lanes at any given time.

stores have no idea how much shoplifting takes place, they only know when stock doesn't match records. how much is due to human error, incorrect shipments, breakage, and theft is a guess. literally cannot know if shoplifting is on the rise.

this was a radicalizing discovery for me.

Jeffries: "Article 1 of the Constitution provides Congress with the sole authority to declare war. Framers made that decision b/c they were concerned about kings plunging their people into unnecessary wars to pillage resources of others for the benefit of a tyrant and his family. Sound familiar?"

A step further, if you look around at the world today and think "kids don't get enough messaging that being trans is bad and wrong and something they should hope to avoid," you're a stupid person whose opinion wouldn't be published in a major media outlet if the "problem" you're describing existed.

It failed 47-53, with Rand Paul voting with the D’s & the oh so disappointing John Fetterman voting with the R’s

Unreal to find they’re quite OK with POTUS starting a war that he can’t seem able to give a reason for…

AP: Senate Republicans voted down an effort Wednesday to halt President Trump’s war against Iran, demonstrating early support for a conflict that has rapidly spread across the Middle East with no clear U.S. exit strategy.

BREAKING: Senate Republicans just blocked our bipartisan War Powers Resolution to rein in Trump's illegal war of choice against Iran.

They chose fealty to Trump over our troops' lives.

Too bad there's no opposition party that could run a 48 hour Youtube telethon program with 48 elected officials each programming one hour to point out the awfulness of the war on Iran. That would definitely not get any media or other attention.

04.03.2026 22:47 β€” πŸ‘ 570    πŸ” 111    πŸ’¬ 6    πŸ“Œ 1

Perhaps the guests could include former enlisted military members pointing out the bullshit. Perhaps folks trapped in countries across the world because the State Dept cannot plan could be asked to call in... Perhaps Iranians who oppose the war could be featured...

It's not like 60% of the country doesn't already oppose this war. It's way too hard to persuade in such a difficult environment where the vast majority is AGAINST THE WAR.

Doesn't quite work when the regular police have such a reputation for brutality and shooting minorities that there was an entire social movement based around it.

That it happens to align perfectly with how trans people have been dismissed by medical establishments for decades is simply part of the deal.

Loudly profess your belief in a thing that straight up does not happen, that you have all the tools to verify doesn't happen, and reap the reward that other people who espouse the same beliefs now consider you a Voice Of Reason.

At some point you just have to recognise all these "they're transing the gay away" articles as a vice signalling performance where the purpose is for the writers to tell each other "we don't know shit about trans people and are actively refusing to learn"

Grew up Evangelical, can attest that there was very much a vibe of "we need the Jews back there so the end of the world can happen."

People at my church were usually too polite to say what they expected to happen to the Jews at that point out loud but...we all understood...

Global economy must stop pandering to β€˜frivolous desires of ultra-rich’, says UN expert Olivier De Schutter says new economic agenda needed to tackle crises of rising inequality and ecological collapse

We can’t clean up Washington without restoring integrity to the Supreme Court.

That’s why I believe we should expand the Supreme Court to 13 justices. And then, institute term limits.

Because an appointment to the Supreme Court shouldn’t mean a lifetime lack of accountability.

A handful of Republicans could end all of this. And there are quite a few who hate this war, masked terrorists in our cities, flouting of Congress, corruption, etc.

But unless they prove otherwise they’re all cowards.

once again I reiterate that I have never found a more effective barometer for "is this space safe for my fat cis body" than "show me your specific policies for creating a safe space for trans bodies"

it has a 100% success rate everywhere from doctors to waxing to clothing-optional soaking pools

Add in a fourth primary in NC:

Michael Wray, a former North Carolina Democratic lawmaker who helped the GOP override a bunch of Governor Cooper's vetoes before losing in 2024 to progressive challenger Rodney Pierce, was trying a comeback. He is down 62% to 38% so far.

Wow: In the early vote, it's a blow-out *so far*.

Rodney Sadler, the progessive pastor and activist, leads state Representative Carla Cunningham 75% to 18%.

(Stay tuned as we see how the Election Day vote compares, but that's an ominous start for the incumbent.)
