Community care isnβt charity. Itβs survival.
As someone who relies on COVID-safer spaces and collective support, I know this firsthand. Care is resistance β especially in systems that profit from burnout and exclusion. #COVIDIsntOver #CollectiveCare #MaskUp #CleanAir

Sickle cell anaemia disproportionately affects Black communities. It causes severe, recurrent pain, organ damage, and shortened life expectancy. Yet patients are too often dismissed or undertreated. Equity in screening, research, and pain care is urgent. #SystemicNeglect #BlackHistoryMonth

During Black History month, we talk about a lot of painful topics. But Black History is also a history of resistance, care, excellence and joy. Black futures will also be full of these things, and more.

Pink Shirt Day usually focuses on βbullyingβ between students. That harm is real, but it is not the whole story. Black youth and families also face harassment from the systems that are supposed to keep them safe: schools, healthcare, and policing.

Racialized discipline pushes Black students out of classrooms for behaviour that white students are redirected for. Healthcare professionals dismiss Black peopleβs pain, misgender or deadname patients, and shame disabled and fat Black people instead of offering care.

Police and security are called on Black youth for existing in hallways, waiting rooms, and public spaces.
Dignity is a right, not a privilege. Reproductive justice means Black people can learn, get care, and move through the world without being surveilled, punished, or humiliated for who they are.

WTF is right! Why would someone who knows they are sick with COVID (or influenza) go out into public without a mask on? Also, I donβt understand why someone who is medically compromised would be out in public during respiratory viruses season (RSV, flu, etc.).

As a disabled, immunocompromised person, Iβve had to navigate barriers in healthcare that many people never see. That experience is why Iβm fighting β and why I need legal support to do it. Can you please share this link & consider donating if able? Thank you! π www.gofundme.com/f/help-me-fi...

Accessible healthcare shouldnβt be optional or negotiable. Safety shouldnβt depend on who you are or what accommodations you need.

This is why masks belong in healthcare! Measles is not seasonal, itβs airborne, and sick people should not become sicker when seeking treatment.

The idea of graded exercise as a special therapy your doctor has to help you carry out is absurd.

Navigating healthcare as a disabled person is exhausting, expensive, and often isolating. Launching this GoFundMe wasnβt easy, but the support so far has been a real source of hope.

What were the historical reasons for the resistance to recognizing airborne transmission during the COVIDβ19 pandemic?
The question of whether SARS-CoV-2 is mainly transmitted by droplets or aerosols has been highly controversial. We sought to explain this controversy through a historical analysis of transmission res...
This paper goes into more detail on why infection control and public health leaders in 2020 were close to a century out of date on how infections are transmitted in aerosols. Mechanistic science training is inadequate in many medical programs.
The errors would be funny, except for all the death.

Measles outbreak in Arizona and Utah could spell the end for U.S. elimination status
With holiday travel and gatherings approaching, doctors worry that transmission could escalate further.
If community spread of measles continues until Jan 20th, the US will join Canada in losing its measles elimination status.
This is what happens when βyou do youβ individualism takes the place of public health.
Measles is disabling and deadly but itβs also preventable.

The narrative that we are being sold that our children's safety is somehow threatened by trans people participating in all aspects of public life as their authentic selves is the exact same bullshit that was peddled about queer folks 30 years ago. It was a lie then and it's a lie now.
