Mostly harmless random stupid stuff (citation: my wife). Confusing relatives, coworkers, spouse, and cat for decades. Probably at the movies as you read this. He/him.

bert from sesame street talking on a cell phone Alt: Bert from "Sesame Street" holds a banana like a phone. Bert is a Muppet and is yellow with a pointy head with a bit of black hair, a black unibrow, and oval orange nose. He is wearing a white shirt and a sweater with vertical yellow and brown pinstripes. His subtitle is "Hello?" The quality of audio on the banana is unclear.

This is how I access Bluesky

Archbishop Caccia has a long career as a diplomat for the Vatican, having been appointed to serve Lebanon, the Philippines, and the United Nations. Congratulations to Caccia on his appointment and happy retirement to Cardinal Christophe Pierre.

Next update in two weeks.

The apostolic nuncio is a key person in the process of appointing bishops, and just over half of current US bishops were appointed under Pierre as apostolic nuncio. I outlined where the apostolic nuncio fits into the appointment process in a series of posts last May. bsky.app/profile/nopl...

Also, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States Cardinal Christophe Pierre's retirement from that position was announced yesterday; he will be succeeded by current permanent observer of the Holy See to the United Nations Archbishop Gabriele Caccia. Pierre held that position for just under 10 years.

Which is exactly what my wife said when I read the above comment, but before reading yours, and that gets you a deserved follow.

My wife immediately noted a theremin isn't on either list as well. Are there battery-powered ones, or do you need a really long extension cord?

Nothing here banning cellos, so if you're a cello player, go for it!

A picture of me in October 2001 on my wedding day. I have dark short hair parted on the right and held in place by an alarming amount of hairspray that came off in the shower in milky white droplets that evening. I'm wearing eyeglasses with metal frames that are kind of square but with rounded corners. The tuxedo has the classic white shirt and black jacket and I'm also wearing a boutonnière of white and gold autumn flowers and my bow tie and pocket square are a dark forest green complimenting my bride's dress. (She started making the dress long before Princess Fiona made it hip.)

I'll have to go with the clichΓ© rented wedding tux, but this is the best my often-disorganized hair has ever looked. My best man brother used hair spray to stabilize it, and the bottle said 3 to 5 sprays. I stopped counting at 26. Sorry if my wedding caused climate change, but we're still together.

Helping out the Russian economy by buying old film stock they seized from Germany after 1945 is a definite choice on this administration's part...

At the Portland Pilots baseball game:

Batter: (hits foul ball behind stands into parking lot)

Joe Etzel Field audio system: (car crash noises)

Me: (quietly) "Longshot!"

(Yes, this is how my brain works. No refunds.)

Hmm. Gore and Gephardt were Baptists, so the closest he might have gotten to Catholic would have been Dukakis, who was Greek Orthodox but came in a distant third in Illinois.
