1️⃣ most energy use is NOT electricity but gas+oil

2️⃣ gas prices are still >3x higher than pre-Ukraine invasion

This is a blatant rip-off of the Honda e. However, Honda dropped the ball with this design when they overpriced, underspecced and then discontinued it, so if Nio wants to evolve it - and achieves more range and faster charging for less money - then good on them.

It figures that shallow cycling at high SOC will reduce cycle life, but in the case of LFP it'll still be longer lived than NMC.

Another practical consideration is that LFP cells need to be fully charged regularly to calibrate the BMS: LFP voltage vs SOC has a plateau until close to 100% SOC.
