As rain & snow come down from heaven and do not return there until they have watered the earth,

Following this sermon, the Trump admin rescinded the ICE policy preventing detainments in sensitive places, such as places of worship. And a congressperson called for Budde’s deportation.

As I think about our collective future, I don’t want to underestimate the value of celebrating small victories. These will give us endurance and are essential to cultivating hope. What small victories do you or your community have from the last two weeks? Let’s celebrate them.

I feel like she’s not taking the bait which is wise. Let her legislative allies do the work—which some are. The worst thing for her to do is to be pigeon-holed as a single issue legislator, which she clearly isn’t.

Mental health resources for transgender and nonbinary people can help deconstruct internalized stigma that society has imposed upon them. This type of care saves lives. I know this because it saved mine." (3/3)

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, I called upon the Cincinnati City Council to approve funding for additional mental health and safety for transgender and nonbinary youth. The money was unanimously allocated. Here is a portion of what I said: (1/3)

Oh, you are good at this! Grieving has been essential for me, e.g., writing a communal lament. I didn’t think of it as dismantling goals, but that is what I have been doing. I am also working on moving into communities that I find more connective and life-giving—e.g., moving into the city.

$117,000,000 were spent on anti-trans hate speech in the last election. Some Tran support lines reported 700% increase in call volume following the election. There is a correlation.

I’ve been thinking about how hope is a behavior. What practices are you doing to cultivate hope? I’d love to learn from you.
