Edwin says, "'Giving notice' is when you tell your employer that you are leaving your job. 9 times out of 10, the company will dictate your last day. It almost always aligns with the end of a pay period. Consider this when giving notice. If you do not time it well, they may push you out the door in the span of days just to make it easier for the payroll department."

The tradition is to give two weeks of advanced notice, but I have seldom seen a company honor this.

This also applies to all situations where you are exiting the company (e.g., firing, furlough).

I'd watch Europe. They could always pull a GDPR regarding the use of AI in hiring systems (things are already cooking).

After that, I'd watch CA, NYC, or OR.

You will find it in application screening, reviewing/scoring interviews, skill assessments, etc. Even industry experts don’t know what will happen next. Regulation will eventually catch up. Until then, be prepared for a job search that ranges from odd to inhumane."

Someone (e.g., EU, Federal, state) is going to establish regulations. If not, it will be decided in the courts.

Buckle up. Things are just going to get weirder and/or more bleak for job searching until basic ground rules are set.
