He cared enough to set up what was, by all indicators, meant to be a legitimate dinner when he trapped Luke and Co. on Bespin. It's not his fault he had ungrateful guests. I just want to know so much more about who he was beyond the sad angry stuff.

K2 mentions being in a military parade that the Emperor was at, and surely Vader had to participate in one of those for spooky Tarkin Doctrine optics. Riding down Coruscant Main Street in a parade float. Tossing candy to children.

But at the same time, we know he does things politically. He's not a secret, and people casually mention him in the command structure. Krennic requests Tarkin recommend something to Vader so that Vader can forward the recommendation it to the Emperor.

I think about it a lot, but I also can't come up with an answer that satisfies me of what Vader does outside of all the times we see him. I know who Anakin was and what he liked to do, but Vader is such a difference person and I always imagine him so consumed by his anger and sadness.

I've always struggled to imagine Vader as like, an actual person who does anything beyond soak in his hot tub and be depressed. I know he had to spend like 30 years doing SOMETHING besides killing people and crying, but I have no idea what.
