10.11.2025 16:16 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Jeanne Shaheen & Angus King are unlikely to ever be on a ballot again, making it impossible for voters to oust them for voting to end the shutdown w/t protecting ACA premiums from going up.
But their children? They're up in 2026, and could pay a price: theworldofjot29.blogspot.com/2025/11/coul...
If Stefany Shaheen can't convince her own mother to not abandon those dependent on the ACA, why do we think she'll be effective in Washington?
NH Dems have an opportunity to send Sen. Shaheen a message by ensuring no Shaheen's serve in DC going forward.
It's worth noting, given King (and Collins) are supporting this bill, that Janet Mills is actively against this compromise, and staking a quick claim to the left of the Maine & New Hampshire senators.
10.11.2025 02:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Not for nothing, but Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid wouldn't have let this moment happen...and perhaps more importantly, I suspect Amy Klobuchar wouldn't have either.
Schumer needs to step down-he's lost control of his caucus (his #2 is actively voting against him!)
Marjorie Taylor Greene's bizarre shutdown behavior, with seemingly moderated rhetoric and even some positions at odds with President Trump, has garnered headlines. I take a look at why she shifted, and if this is her eyes on a bigger prize in 2028: theworldofjot29.blogspot.com/2025/11/the-...
10.11.2025 01:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Okay, I take it back about Warner who apparently is also a no...it still stand for Kaine, though, who has given into the Republicans.
10.11.2025 01:43 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If Schumer votes AGAINST this but enough Ds vote FOR it that it passes, he needs to RESIGN immediately.
He will have shown himself to be absolutely ineffective as a minority leader. He has to go.
Literally resign tonight.
Mark Kelly is in a state that Donald Trump has won twice...Tim Kaine & Mark Warner are from a state that he lost every time, and his party got blown to smithereens in on Tuesday.
One of these men is a patriot, and the other two are fucking cowards.
If Tuesday was the start of a "Democratic Tea Party" it's worth noting that the last incumbent senator who lost a primary was Richard Lugar, who lost it due to being seen as giving in too much to the other party's administration.
Something Mark Warner should consider given he's up next year.
DC is almost certainly the most liberal city in America (even more so than Philadelphia, Seattle, Atlanta, or even San Francisco).
Why he thought he could get away with this stunt while much of the city is not just left-leaning, but out-of-work is beyond me.
@markwarner.bsky.social I am so serious this deal will end your career. VA voters went +15 for Dems DURING the shutdown. People are angry at Republicans and you're letting them off the hook for empty promises of a vote that goes nowhere and does NOTHING to help your constituents
10.11.2025 00:21 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Jacob Frey's victory opens up a serious question about what he does next. Minneapolis Mayor is historically a dreadful launchpad for higher office, and there's not a lot of options statewide. 31.10.2025 15:18 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The recent passings of June Lockhart & Maria Riva opened up a surprising amount of longevity-related trivia surrounding Classical Hollywood. I take a look at it, and especially who still remains of 1930's Hollywood: theworldofjot29.blogspot.com/2025/10/the-...
31.10.2025 03:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The escalating gerrymandering war has led to a massive dose of gaslighting from Republicans. But I thought it was worth a look at just how much the GOP benefited from gerrymandering BEFORE the redraws. 31.10.2025 01:56 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0With the recent deaths of June Lockhart & Maria Riva...it's possible there are now no credited actresses living who were in Hollywood films of the 1930's.
Sidney Kibrick, Donnie Dunagan, & Terry Kilburn are all still alive for the men, but can anyone think of an actress...I think that might be it?
This is a lovely gesture, but given we're going to spend the next year hearing about how "important" Susan Collins' influence is in DC for Maine, it's insane that right now Maine's restaurants are being forced to do the job she apparently can't figure out.
29.10.2025 17:02 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Goodbye to Wes Moore's chances of becoming president. Newsom will (correctly) destroy him on not redrawing, and if Pritzker redraws Illinois, he'll crush him as well.
Moore basically just said he never wants to be president, because he if he did he would've pushed the Senate harder.
The insane thing here is that if you put a bill to nationally ban gerrymandering in EVERY state, you'd have uniform support from Dems in Congress (including those that'd likely lose their seats if it passes). We already HAVE the higher ground here-we just want it to be even until that passes.
28.10.2025 15:22 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Murphy is pathetic for doing this. There are things that have been in my fridge longer than Platner has been in politics-why is he risking decades of reputation for someone he doesn't know, who has a history racist & bigoted comments (and a Nazi tattoo)?!?

26.10.2025 18:39 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Lockhart's death brings to an end the Classical Era of the Universal Monster movie. While there are bit players in these movies still around (most notably Clint Eastwood), Lockhart, who starred in She-Wolf of London, was (as far as I can tell) the last living actor to get prominent billing.
