I’m so touched to be recognised by the @bristoluni.bsky.social with their 2026 Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award.

The picture of me as an undergraduate in the early 1980s presents a vivid reminder of just how long I’ve been involved with this work!

King Charles’s 2010 book ‘Harmony’ is coming out in paperback soon, to coincide with his film ‘Finding Harmony’, which was released on Amazon Prime last week. The film is great, & the book an excellent read to go with it.

Nature loss is a national security risk, intelligence groups warn The degradation of ecosystems around the world threatens UK food security, a long-awaited report says.

During the 1990s environmental damage was projected in the future to cause mass migration, food price increases, disease & extreme weather, among other things. We are living now in the beginning of that future. Taking action is vital for national security.

An across-government technical assessment published today recognises that "nature is the foundation of national security" and that "every critical ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse". A rational response to this would be to get very serious about nature recovery.
