Honestly as long as communication remains strong on both sides you shouldn't have any issues.

And remember, some artists take years (and some have reached decades) before finishing commissions.

Then make that a clear thing in your tos with your clients.

And always keep them up to date as to where their art is in your queue. Even if it means you haven't been able to get any work on their piece done.
