- SCOTUS declared it legal to out trans kids to abusive parents

And yes, of course, it’s a business and you can’t do anything if you don’t make money. But there should be some things that aren’t for sale, because you end up paying the cost.

And now here we are. Teaming up with betting pools disguised as investing for … reasons? Journalism will break your heart, y’all.

For a brief moment, I truly believe the industry saw this in itself. Maybe for 40-50 years. And then an arrogance, followed by desperation, led it to chasing revenue and hiring leaders who sought “efficiency” but couldn’t care less about journalism. They took all the wrong lessons from the internet.

When I was just getting started in the trade, it was ingrained in me that journalism is a service industry. The reader is paramount — inform people, as objectively as possible, what’s happening and why it matters. Be the “first draft of history.” Be a watchdog in service to the community.

I used to say that newspapers may die, but journalism will live on. I believe that less and less because I keep seeing it dig its own grave.

I wrote this some years back and return to it now as a reminder to myself of what's really important in life. If it resonates with you, too, all the better.

Cyrus Smythe would be such a great character to bring back. There are so many Golden Age Plas ideas worth reviving.

Texas AG Ken Paxton has declared that it is illegal for mental health providers and therapists to treat trans youth. It means that trans youth will be denied access to any mental healthcare that isn't conversion therapy. Paxton also threatens parents of trans youth with child abuse investigations.
