I bought the Yamaha at Goodwill in 1996 and got more than 20 years out of it. Not having a local repair shop is the problem for me.

10.10.2025 22:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The local stereo repair shop, The Stereo Doctors, stopped treating patients several years ago, so when my beloved Yamaha C820 needed service, I had nowhere to turn. Luckily, my oldest friend called in a favor and got a Sansui 5000 for me. I hope I can keep it going.
10.10.2025 22:00 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The worst. Happened to me twice on a bike ride this summer.
10.10.2025 21:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I visited the Best Buy store for the first time in a long time and checked out the home audio department, where I found four receivers available for purchase. When I first shopped here in the '90s, there were dozens.
10.10.2025 21:56 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I think they took it to Hutchinson Island, possibly this location:

10.10.2025 12:08 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The idea of a Lee Greenwood Super Bowl performance is, of course, ridiculous. But hear me out: Holographic Lee Hazlewood Super Bowl performance.
10.10.2025 12:05 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0It just occurred to me that @prudenincorporated.bsky.social has experience in the realm of channel marker/buoy handling and may have insight into where it is/will go.

10.10.2025 01:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've never been to Portland, but I would like to visit someday. Fun fact: The guy who made the song that was used as the "Portlandia" theme, Ernest Weatherly Greene Jr., is from Perry, Georgia, and is a UGA alumnus.

10.10.2025 00:58 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Tonight at @wruu.bsky.social, I compared @wfmu.bsky.social swag with Rob, who is on the air immediately after me. My tote bag and his shirt.
10.10.2025 00:54 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Agreed. I'm grateful I can buy Wild Georgia Shrimpβ’ right across the bridge from Savannah in Thunderbolt from a shrimpmonger I know by name (His name is Jay.).
10.10.2025 00:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For those following the epic journey of the channel marker that washed up on Tybee Island, a helicopter is now on the way to grab it. Thanks for the update, Mac! I wonder where they will take it. USCG Station Tybee, perhaps?
09.10.2025 21:13 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Georgians now have early access to the ACA plans with their new premiums.
One silver plan has a $10,000 deductible. In one case, the silver plans ranged from $2600 to $4800 per month.

A photograph of a bike rack at the Habersham Village shopping center in Savannah, Georgia. One of two bollard near the rack has been knocked over by a car.
I asked some city officials to improve and expand bicycle parking at the neighborhood shopping center and they did! Victory! Unfortunately, this has already happened. I'm guessing a very powerful e-bike is to blame.
09.10.2025 17:36 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Via City of Tybee: "The U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Army will conduct a joint operation on Tybee Island to remove the channel marker from the beach around 4 p.m. on Oct. 9. For public safety, a 300-foot perimeter on each side of the marker will be established. The pier will remain open."

09.10.2025 11:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Full disclosure: I haven't seen it in person yet. Just reading information from Tybee Island Ocean Rescue. The channel marker is down near the pier, and since I'm a Second Street/East Gate boy, I'm wary of that area. What if there's a gang of beach bums down there who don't want me on their turf? π

08.10.2025 12:50 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have become a big fan of the Criterion 24/7 feature. It's like dropping out of warp into a movie without any idea of what you're getting into. I've wandered into several things I wouldn't have known about otherwise. Like this, which was filmed a couple of counties south of me:
07.10.2025 23:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am interested in watching the removal via helicopter, but Chinooks are a daily sight around here (I live a couple of miles from an Army airfield). I say, bring in this character:

For those interested in the saga of the wayward channel marker that washed up on Tybee Island, info via Tybee Island Ocean Rescue:
β’ It drifted here from Port Royal, S.C.
β’ It weighs around 13,900 pounds.
β’ The U.S. Coast Guard is coordinating removal, likely later this week, by Chinook helicopter.
