A crew is gutting the house across the street, creating a lot of noise and dust. One of the workers sneezed and the Merlin app identified her as a great blue heron. 🪶

I waited out a shower here for a bit, then stopped by Aldi. Made it home just before it really started coming down. We certainly can use the rain.

There were about six of us hanging out under this overpass until the rain subsided.

Today's rant was inspired by having to disable the "Backdrops" app on my Roku TV for the third time. It keeps coming back like a zombie. My TV does not need a screensaver. When I'm not watching it, I simply turn it off.

It does not. But it works really well and the battery life is impressive. Mine's refurbished (I bought it on eBay) and I could not be happier with it.

I recently bought a Blu-ray player and selected the specific model because it was not Wi-Fi compatible. I wanted the product I purchased to remain the same product.

For instance, when I my Roomba started throwing an error message that I couldn't clear, I replaced it with this dumb guy. It doesn't have an app or connect to WiFi, and does not map my home. It just bumbles around sucking up cat hair. I love it.

How much time are we spending these days trying to figure out how to disable some new "feature" on our phones, TVs, computers, etc.? For me, a lot. That's one reason I'm increasingly interested in technology that is not connected to the internet.

It took me a while to come around, too. One unattended consequence of e-bike ownership: My car battery died from lack of use.

I've known Dave and Mark since the '80s, but this is my first encounter with Steve.

We turned City Hall from gold to green tonight, as the St. Patrick’s Day insanity kicks off. Savannah has the second largest St Pat’s parade (behind NYC and ahead of Chicago and Boston). It’s truly insane. But this was a lovely view.

A friend just messaged me about a new restaurant hiring servers, hosts, all kitchen positions, and an experienced assistant manager. If you are interested in working at The Toasted Ampersand Bar & Grill + Market and More, let me know and I'll put you in touch.

One of my mentors instilled in me an intense dislike of ampersands, so it's especially annoying to me.

Some have lobbied for the inclusion of these two restaurants, which are within the Ampersand District, but that's a controversial position for obvious reasons:
1. Flora and Fauna
2. Moss + Oak
Others advocate extending the district's boundary south so that it would include Colleagues & Lovers.

These are, somehow, the names of five local restaurants:
1. Cotton & Rye
2. Marbled & Fin
3. Myrtle & Rose
4. Proof & Provision
5. Coco & Moss
They are all located between Victory Drive and River Street, which I will refer to as “The Ampersand District” from now on.

Longtime Savannah LGBTQ+ hub announces plans to move Club One will soon relocate from its home of nearly 40 years.

This place is really important. Glad they are moving, not closing.
