Grand Central Block, Pioneer Square’s 'old soul,' makes a comeback after years in the dark Urban Visions bought the century-old buildings last month for just over $5 million after a previous redevelopment plan fell apart during the pandemic.

Just heard that the Grand Central Arcade is reopening tonight after 6 years with some new vendors.

You can see an affordable housing development at the north west corner of this intersection. The Aurora house is run by DESC.

Last night a speeding car crashed into the bus stop at 105th and Aurora. This is the second high speed crash in this section in the last 2 weeks.

From my neighborhood in North Seattle, it takes the same amount of time to get to Trader Joe's in Greenwood as it does the U District location thanks to the light rail even though it is twice the distance in miles (1.7 vs 3.4 miles).

Table of acres by place type. "Corridor" was supposed to cover 17,736 acres

Pay attention in this map to the purple "Corridor" place type. Notice just how much of the city would have allowed for more dense housing with these new Corridors.

The table here shows Corridors were supposed cover 17,736(!!) acres. That could have unlocked almost the whole city for social housing!

I watched an older guy run out of time yesterday crossing Aurora and 105th while cars continued to make right turns in front of him, preventing him from reaching the sidewalk and bus stop.

This is a heartbreaking failure in the WA LEG.

It would have made it easier for those harmed by negligent drivers to seek a remedy. It passed the House just HOURS after Lili Moreno was killed by a driver in Capitol Hill.

Too often, our laws protect dangerous drivers more than the people they kill.

Does anyone have a recent example of a house being converted to a restaurant or commercial space? I'm looking specifically for repurposing or converting an existing structure, not a tear down or new construction.

Op-Ed: Sound Transit’s Station Naming Policy Has Run Amok Again Β» The Urbanist # With three β€œdowntown” stations and counting, Sound Transit must overhaul its station naming policy and name its stations less confusingly so that riders can easily navigate a growing system.

You are gonna rile up the Seattle Transit advocates about confusing station naming decisions and poor way finding.

I see so many delivery trucks parking in no parking zones "for just a minute" and I really think every block should have a dedicated loading space on each side of the road.
