Have any of you watched Badlands? Are you engaging with art or just your own ego?

Ego will fail you. Be you.

Doing the right thing in a time of despair feels useless and hopeless... right until it doesn't.

Maybe it means nothing at the end of the day, but the reality of human history is that 99% of what we do means nothing on a long enough time line.

So do the best thing now. And maybe the dam breaks.

There is no guarantee of any outcome.

But that does not invalidate doing the right thing in the first place.

Do the best you can and let the chips fall where they may.

I use the word failure regularly. And I find many people recoil and I have to explain further.
Failure isn't inherently good or bad. It is an observation. It is a learning opportunity.
You can be successful but also still fail. Just dodge the critical failures and learn from the smaller ones.

One very small additional note, in the movie the scenes in the phone booth were filmed in Intercourse. But producers were like "No one is going to take it seriously" so they used the name Strasburgh, a town a few miles away, when referring to where the phone booth was.

That fight scene was in front of a house that was a quarter of a mile up the street from my house in front of a hair salon. They offered the hair salon $500, and the owner declined to take payment as long as she got a signed pic of her with Ford.

I'd wager you know this, but just in case...
Parts of Witness were filmed in my hometown of Intercourse, Pennsylvania. I watched the scenes in the phone booth from across the street. My last name is so common in that area that they made these shirts for the cast and crew.

Did not expect a found family narrative about the lead figuring out that his dad is a jerk cooked into my kick ass action Predator movie but... they did that and it was fantastic :)

My friend, you land in the found family that this story is getting at.

I have blood relations I don't respect as much as I do you. That was my big take away from this movie.

The Predator stuff is window dressing to a heartfelt movie of Dek and Thia and the baby Kaslisk finding each other.

Failure means death.

Then I will not fail.

(....the point I'm making is that approval and acceptance come from within yourself and your desire for them are only "killed" by accepting yourself and your spirit.)

This movie is just amazing. Immediately leaping into my top of the year list.

You're the first professional reviewer I saw who glommed on to the found family angle.

That was my biggest take. Dad was just an asshole and these new people? They're pretty cool.

I have never QP'd one of these before. But...

Let me tell you, as an entrepreneur, the VAST majority of people are either not even remotely capable of it, or even a little interested.

WHICH IS OK! It is not a choice for everyone! But forcing everyone to engage in that mindset is madness.
