Wonderful event tonight at Bookends Florence: a celebration of reissue by Sinister Wisdom of S/he by Minnie Bruce Pratt. Love the book. Love the dyke/trans warmth. Andrea Lawlor, Jen Manion & Jack Gieseking read great selections and had thoughtful things to say. The q&a got me fired up! #westernma

I then added autocracies to my portfolio: Cuba, Ven, etc. I think I can recognize the stages of transition to authoritarianism. Here are the boxes Trump has already checked off.

Ill-informed, reactionary journalism that MADE this an issue in the first place.
A federal court just blocked Elon Musk from interfering with the federal government’s payments system.
There is power in fighting back. We won’t let up until this block is permanent.
All of the Republicans who for years railed about "unelected bureaucrats" destroying the government are awfully quiet as an unelected bureaucrat destroys the government.

Which billionaires and giant corporations will buy themselves loopholes?
In his 1st term, well-connected insiders got tariff waivers.
This is one more way to make corporate CEOs kiss Trump's ring.
Americans are confused, scared and angered by President Trump’s escalating attacks on our independent, professional and dedicated civil service.
That's why I convened top federal workforce experts for this emergency webinar sharing crucial information.
RFK Jr. is a danger to public health. Every Republican senator who votes yes will own the consequences.
When RFK Jr. follows anti-vax conspiracies instead of science, when he greenlights Trump's anti-abortion agenda, when he cuts healthcare for seniors — remember who voted yes.
Our people across #MD08 are rightly demanding answers about President Trump's systematic destruction of federal programs and the civil service.
Federal workers—I'm convening a webinar on the latest developments and resources to fight back. Sign up to gain access upon its release:
I support this.
Elon Musk cannot dismantle USAID without an act of Congress.
Democrats must use every lever at our disposal to block his illegal takeover and shutdown of an essential government agency.
No one elected Elon Musk.
As Donald Trump allows Musk to access people’s personal information and shut down government funding, Republicans in Washington will also own the consequences.
We must do everything in our power to push back and protect people from harm.
Calling all elected officials and Dems especially to speak out and fight back against this unconstitutional behavior

“I went over it with him in detail, and he agreed that we should shut it down,” Musk said. “And I actually checked with him a few times [and] said ‘are you sure?’” The answer was yes, he said. “And so we’re shutting it down,” Musk said. USAID staffers were told that the agency’s headquarters in Washington will be closed Monday amid the turmoil. In an email to staff early Monday, the agency’s leadership said: “Agency personnel normally assigned to work at USAID headquarters will work remotely … with the exception of personnel with essential on-site and building maintenance functions individually contacted by senior leadership.”
The executive branch does not have the legal right to cancel appropriated spending or eliminate agencies created by Congress.
Trump and Musk are doing both. Entirely lawless and unconstitutional.
