I would use public transport but a) getting to race tracks with it doesn't really work, b) driving is enjoyable, public transport is miserable, c) it's completely unreliable, and d) it doesn't even save any money most of the time
apart from that it's class though π
love that petrol prices are going to jump up right as I've got some longer journeys planned/am going to be driving more π«

in other UK touring car news, TCR UK should have a good title battle this year
two returning champions (Boardley and Lewis Kent), two contenders from last year returning (Callum Newsham and Brad Hutchison), and Max Hall continuing after a few races last year

also means no Cupra on the grid
assuming it doesn't return in future, the Leon ends its BTCC career with the unenviable honour of being one of 6 NGTC cars never to win a race. not only that, but it has more race starts than *the other 5 combined*, which you have to say is suboptimal
sort of feared this might be the case, and given the ongoing questions around whether One Motorsport will actually race there's a good chance we lose a couple of teams here
should still just about crack 20 cars on the grid, though

almost caught up on the 2025 Le Mans liveries π
the Cadillac now joins the Porsche 963 as the car I have the most examples of in my collection (6 of each, across IMSA and WEC)
still have another 4 Cadillacs to add from IMSA (π« ), and there are 3 Porsches that haven't been produced as models
what the fuck is happening

good to have confirmation Speedworks are sticking with four cars, and that they've retained the Toyota manufacturer backing
also Speedworks Corolla Racing is an *incredibly* Super Touring-coded team name, love it

good morning: folks we can have the 1.6 vs. 1.9 debate all day, but thereβs no debate that Vert Fluorite is one of the all time great colors

also it's sort of responsible for my name? there's a character called Meredith in the game, and while I didn't name myself after her that's probably why the name was on my mind. it's a name I'd always liked but it might not have immediately hit me as the right name if I hadn't been playing this game
06.03.2026 14:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cassette Beasts: two reasons to include this. one is it's an excellent fresh take on the monster catching/collecting/battling genre. the other is this was the game I was sinking so much time into when I was Going Through It coming to terms with my transness, and deciding if I was going to come out
06.03.2026 14:30 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0GTA V: I know it's cooler to prefer GTA IV, but I don't have any nostalgia for it. really this was the game that pushed me to try more games beyond my usual racing focus, so it's pretty significant for me. also I have so many hours in Online over the last 12+ years I feel obliged to include it
06.03.2026 14:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Forza Motorsport 4: the game that either directly or indirectly introduced me to a lot of my online friends. my first time getting into community-run online events, and it's just a really damn good racing game
06.03.2026 14:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0LittleBigPlanet: mostly on this list for fond memories of playing it with my brother, also one of the first cases I'd experienced of a game that really encouraged creativity with the level creator. very much a right place, right time sort of game for me
06.03.2026 14:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Need for Speed ProStreet: the best vibes of any racing game ever imo. yes the physics kind of suck, and it's not very NFS-y, but none of that matters. no other game has better encapsulated the feeling of a race weekend. and the soundtrack fucking rips, too
06.03.2026 14:30 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Pokemon Ruby: my introduction to Pokemon via an older friend who had moved on to Pearl at the time and gave me his copy of Ruby. I didn't have a GBA or DS so I borrowed my Mum's DS she mostly used for Brain Training. she only got it back once I got my own DS
06.03.2026 14:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Gran Turismo 4: my favourite game of all time, so an obvious inclusion. you don't need me to explain why it's so good, do you
06.03.2026 14:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Simpsons Hit & Run: a lot of people my age have lots of nostalgia for this game, and I'm not above that. I bought it the day I got my PS2, and played it relentlessly for years. as a kid who loved The Simpsons and also always wanted to be driving *something* in games, it was perfect for me
06.03.2026 14:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0ToCA 2: the very first game I ever played, and probably a not-insignificant contributing factor in why I'm like this. possibly the best thing about this game is it included Knockhill, which for a five year old Meredith was an absolutely incredible thing to have access to
06.03.2026 14:30 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0a 3x3 grid of game covers (from left to right): top row: ToCA 2 Touring Cars (PS1), The Simpsons Hit & Run (PS2), Gran Turismo 4 (PS2) middle row: Pokemon Ruby (GBA), Need for Speed: ProStreet (PS2), LittleBigPlanet (PS3) bottom row: Forza Motorsport 4 (Xbox 360), Grand Theft Auto V (multiple platforms), Cassette Beasts (Nintendo Switch)
joining in with this, it was hard to avoid just picking nine racing games because that has *overwhelmingly* been my taste over the years
roughly in chronological order
I'm so upset about it, but it's objectively incredibly funny
